Earlier Dedicated E1 Communication

 Each E1 line provides 2 Mbit/s bandwidth.

 After being mapped, aligned, and encapsulated,
63xE1 signals are multiplexed into one STM-1
signal through VC12.
 One STM-1 line provides 155 Mbit/s.

 The PQ1 is a PDH processing board.

 The PQ1 can be used on the OptiX OSN equipment
series to add and drop PDH signals..E1 drops at
PQ1 card line provides 2 Mbit/s bandwidth.

Some Features of L2 Devices

 L2 devices work on same broadcast domain.

 Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) technology divides a physical LAN into multiple broadcast domains,
each of which is called a VLAN.
 L2 devices supports both VLAN-aware (TAG Aware) and VLAN-unaware (Non TAG Aware) service
configurations.
 VLAN-aware means that a network may read, manipulate or make forwarding decisions based on
VLAN tags.
 VLAN ID uses 12bit. It’s range is 1-4094.
 L3 devices add/discard VLAN with IP subnet.

MPLS Network

 Multiprotocol Label Switching

(MPLS) is a type of data-
carrying technique for high-
performance telecommunication
networks. MPLS directs data
from one network node to the
next based on short path labels
rather than long network
addresses, avoiding complex
lookups in a routing table. The
labels identify virtual links
(paths) between distant nodes
rather than endpoints.
