•What do you want the students to learn?

•Why do you want them to learn it?

•How can you best help students to learn it?

•How will you know what they have

learned?
In teaching, students are expected
to…

•Do more challenging tasks rather than memorize

•Write project proposals, complete projects,

analyze case studies, give case presentations,
demonstrate processes, and conduct researches

•Be creative

•Work in a team
Output are clear learning results
that learners have to demonstrate
at the end of significant learning
experiences.
Graduate Attributes???
The Spirit of
TEACHING
1. In teaching, what ultimately matters is
not what is taught, but what is
learned;

2. Therefore, teachers would do well to

set their course objectives in terms of
learning outcomes;

Why Collaborate ?

Alone we can do so little;

together we can do so much”
― Helen Keller
Why Collaborate ?
One of the 4 Pillars of Learning ( Delors, J.)

• To practice how “to live

together” .
Think about this:

“Students are not failing because of

the curriculum. Students can learn
any subject matter when they are
taught with methods and
approaches responsive to their
learning styles and strengths”
- Dr. Rita Dunn, Ed. D.
Director, International
Learning Styles Network
Manager: one who
conducts, directs, controls,
guides and leads the
learners ;

Facilitator: one who

makes it easy to get
everyone involved and
enjoy doing what he/she
is learning.
We are the Managers and Facilitators of
active learning!

We are concerned for our learners to

increase learning in all aspects of their
lives!

Task : Take a rubber ball out from
the bottom of a large pipe. You are
provided with a long piece of wire ,
a long wooden stick, a net , a pail of
water and a dipper.

president of our country?

• What is the mathematical term for the x axis

which is the horizontal coordinate of a point
in a two-dimensional rectangular Cartesian
coordinate system?
Pairs Check
Students work in pairs
within groups of four.
Within pairs students
alternate-one solves a
problem while the
other coaches. After
every two problems,
the pair checks to see
if they have the same
answers as the other
pair

Strip Tease Reading

Students are asked

to read the text
which was cut into
strips. After reading,
they need to
formulate questions
about what they
read.
Alexander Graham Bell
accidentally invented the telephone.
He was testing a new transmitter
when it happened. He spilled a
burning acid on it and produced
sound waves. Bell didn’t realize that
the sound waves make sound travel to
different places.
He shouted for help from Mr.
Watson who was in the kitchen. Mr.
Watson was surprised to hear Bell’s
voice clearly. He went to Bell and
uttered, “I heard every word you
said.”
This was how telephone was
discovered.
Match Mine
Draw a geometric figure on a
Cartesian plane. Say the coordinates
to your partner and make some
instructions so that his/her drawing
will match with yours.
Philosophical Chairs

Students present different

sides of a debate , sitting on
opposite sides of the room,
trying to persuade others to
change their position and move
to their side
ILO- To defend one’s stand in the
implementation of SHS

Question: If given the choice , would

you favor the implementation of
Senior High School?
Hot Seat
The students are
asked to read a pre-
assigned text and
formulate questions
about what was read.
A student is asked to
take the hot seat and
the classmates will
ask questions about
what was read.
Hot Seat and Group Hot Seat
- Teacher /student plays a character and
answers the questions from the class.
- Establish ground rules . No comments of
any kind on either the students’ questions
or the teacher’s answers except by asking
another question.
ILO- State the advantages and
disadvantages of the anti-dynasty law

Teacher /student occupies the hot seat.

He/she plays the role of a lawmaker in
favor of the anti-dynasty law.
Students ask questions.
The Group hot seat serves as
consultants.
