Wireless: Wi-Fi
Wired : Copper and Fiber
Copper line can be ADSL, VDSL
Fiber can be GPON/EPON

Board status

Board Status Meaning

Active-Normal active control board is in the normal state
Main control Board Standby-Normal Standby control board is in the normal state
Standby-failed the standby control board is faulty
Config Board enters configuration state after it is confirmed
Normal board is running in the normal state
Failed board is faulty
Board is in the discovery state. After a service board is inserted, the
Auto_find system automatically discovers the board. In this case, the board is
Service board/Uplink
in the Auto_find state. Only used after running #board confirm
Board
board is in the auto_load state. After a service board is inserted to a
slot, it reports its version to the control board. If the software
Auto_load version of the board is different from that saved in the flash
memory of the control board, the system automatically loads the
software to the board.
P_0037
VLAN

 The MA5600T/MA5603T/MA5608T supports port based VLAN planning as specified

by the IEEE 802.1Q standard.

 IEEE 802.1Q is the networking standard that supports virtual LANs (VLANs) on an
Ethernet network. In an Ethernet frame, a 4byte 802.1 Q tag inserted between
source MAC address field and the protocol type field.

P_0038
VLAN
 VLAN Types
4-VLAN Types supported by MSAN system
Standard VLAN
Smart VLAN
Mux VLAN
Supper VLAN

STANDARD VLAN

P_0039
STANDARD VLAN

When to Use
The standard VLAN is used to limit the broadcast domains of the standard ports.
On the MA5600T, the standard VLAN contains only the standard upstream ports (namely,
FE or GE), but not the service virtual ports (such as the xDSL or GPON).

P_0040
P_0041
SMART VLAN

A smart VLAN can contain multiple upstream ports and service ports.
One VLAN supports multiple users, which saves the VLAN resources.
When to Use
Used to partition user groups, and each user group is associated with one Smart VLAN.
Isolates the access users in one VLAN to ensure the privacy of the users and the security
of the network.
Provide the access service where multiple users are connected through one VLAN.
When the VLAN number on the MA5600T is limited, you can use the Smart VLAN to
access more users.
Smart VLANs can be applied in residential communities to provide xDSL or xPON service
access.

P_0042
P_0043
MUX VLAN

When to Use
To isolate and identify the access users.
 One MUX VLAN corresponds to one access connection.
The equipment at the upper layer identifies different access users by VLAN ID.

SUPER VLAN
It is a layer-3-based VLAN.
Contains multiple sub VLANs. A sub VLAN can be a smart VLAN or a MUX VLAN.
Different sub VLANs can communicate with each other by ARP proxy. All sub
VLANs of a super VLAN forward the service by the layer 3 interface of the super
VLAN.

P_0044
P_0045
QinQ VLAN service processing

P_0046
QinQ VLAN service processing
The access node can implement communication between the users in one private network (VLAN 1 or
VLAN 2) that is located in different regions through a QinQ VLAN. The service packets of the users are
processed as follows:
The PC user transmits untagged packets in the upstream direction.
The layer 2 LAN switch adds the private network VLAN tag (VLAN 1 or VLAN 2) to the packets of the
PC user and transmits them to the access node in the upstream direction.
The access node adds the public network VLAN tag (VLAN 3) to the packets and transmits them to
the upper-layer network.
The upper-layer network device transmits the packets according to the public network VLAN tag
(VLAN 3).
The peer access node removes the public network VLAN tag (VLAN 3) after receiving the packets,
and transmits them to the LAN switch on the same side.
The LAN switch identifies and removes the private network VLAN tag (VLAN 1 or VLAN 2), and
forwards the untagged packets to the users in the private network VLAN.
P_0047
VLAN stacking service processing

P_0048
VLAN stacking service processing
The users of enterprise A are connected to ISP 1 through the access node by using a stacking VLAN
and the users of enterprise B are connected to ISP 2 through the access node by using another
stacking VLAN. The service packets of the users are processed as follows:
The user transmits untagged packets in the upstream direction. The packets then reach the access
node through the modem.
The access node adds two VLAN tags to the untagged user packets. The users belonging to
different ISPs map different outer SP VLANs.
The outer VLAN tag that is added to the user packets of enterprise A is SP VLAN 1 and the
inner VLAN tag is the tag of the corresponding customer VLAN.
The outer VLAN tag that is added to the user packets of enterprise B is SP VLAN 2 and the
inner VLAN tag is the tag of the corresponding customer VLAN.
The exchange MAN device forwards packets to different ISPs according to the SP VLAN.
After receiving the user packets, ISP 1 and ISP 2 remove the outer SP VLAN tag, and differentiate
users according to inner customer VLAN tags.
