• Non-verbal things in communication are called
“Paralanguage”.

• Paralanguage can be divided into four parts :

- voice qualities
- vocal characterizers
- vocal qualifiers
- vocal segregates

TOUCH
• Communication through touch is obviously non-
verbal ,touch is the easiest and one of the earliest
forms of human communication.
• Used properly it can create a more direct message
than dozens of words and vice-versa.
• Touching is a powerful communicative tool &
serves to express a tremendous range of feeling
such as fear, love, warmth, & coldness.

The Importance of Non-Verbal
Communication
Professional

• In a professional setting, conveying the right message

through non verbal communication is crucial to ensure
client, employee, employer, and peer confidence. A clearly-
developed presentation, for example, should accompany a
professional appearance. A brilliant sales pitch should pair
with a strong, confident demeanor.

Personal

• In personal situations, non-verbal communication can

make or break a relationship. Body language should
express respect and care; for example, when listening to a
friend, make sure your body is being just as attentive as
your spoken invitation to share a confidence.

Expatriates

• Non-verbal communication can have important cultural

implications. Before moving to a new country, take send
some time to learn, not just the spoken language, but the
non-verbal cues you may.

Kiran Dahitinkar 1016

Provides Cues
• Nonverbal communication provides cues to other people
to help guide or instruct him. For example, if a police
officer is in the middle of an intersection and he faces his
hand at your car, you know this means to stop. The
nonverbal cue to stop could save your life and the lives of
the other passengers on the road.Other cues in American
society could be clapping hands, winking with the eye or a
shrug of the shoulders.

Kiran Dahitinkar 1016

Clarifies
• Nonverbal communication clarifies the verbal message.
This can be seen in a presentation. The speaker is verbally
communicating and uses nonverbal visual aids to help the
listeners understand more effectively.A nonverbal aid in
this situation can be a graph, chart or slide show.
Incorporating nonverbal communication in an
interpersonal or group conversation will provide greater
clarity and comprehension.

Kiran Dahitinkar 1016

Conclusion

• It is impossible to communicate efficiently without

using Non-Verbal communication.

• Nonverbal communication is often better than

verbal communication at revealing attitudes and
feelings.
