students are spending their time in using gadgets or technologies than reading facts and information for brain exercises, this drove us to make this mobile application. • As a Biological Science student, we should be equipped with a wide range of knowledge about every single detail that is covered by the subject. This mobile application “Everyday Science Quiz” would be a great help for us to further realize our main goal as to build up and enhance our skills in the field of science. Significance of the Study • This study will be beneficial for:
• Students (higher and lower education)
Statement of the Problem • The aim of this study is to measure the validity of mobile quiz app for students. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions:
• What is the acceptability level of mobile app
“Everyday Science Quiz” in terms of learning content, feedback mechanism and display? Conceptual Framework
INDEPENDENT VARIABLE DEPENDENT VARIABLES
The acceptability level
of the mobile quiz app in terms of: Mobile Quiz app 1. Learning content “Everyday Science 2. Feedback Quiz” mechanism 3. Display Methodology
• Research Method Used
This study used descriptive method of research. • Respondents and Locale of the Study The study involved 10 selected faculty members and 30 selected major in science students of College of Education, Romblon State University main campus during the school year 2017 – 2018. • The Research Instrument The study used the survey questionnaire (Likert Scale) as instrument in the gathering of data RESULTS Qualitative Evaluation • For faculty, their over-all weighted mean is 4.43 (Agree). They agree on the acceptability of mobile app “Everyday Science Quiz” in terms of learning content, feedback mechanism, and display. • As to biological and general science students, the over-all weighted mean is 4.37 (Agree). They also agree on the acceptability of mobile app “Everyday Science Quiz” in terms of learning content, feedback mechanism, and display.
• The teachers and the students strongly agree
on the mechanisms of the mobile app. Quantitative Evaluation Faculty Members Science Students
Learning content 3.97 4.13
Feedback mechanism 4.8 4.53
Display 4.6 4.46
Over-all weighted mean 4.43 4.37
Conclusions • The teachers and students agreed on the acceptability of mobile app” Everyday Science Quiz” in terms of learning content, feedback mechanism, and display. They strongly agree on the mechanisms of the mobile app. • The mobile application has high capabilities for student’s assessment.
• The teachers and students perceived the
mobile application to be highly important in the learning process but then they faced some technical and educational challenges in playing the mobile quiz application. Recommendations • School must provide other mobile applications and technologies to improve student’s knowledge and learning. • School administrators may include in their plan the purchase of mobile devices that may be used in learning.
• Researchers may conduct another study that
looks into the effect of mobile and other learning and assessment application to the academic achievement of students.
