Minimal rectangular form avoiding complicated stretches of
corridors to make navigation within the space simple and easy.
Follows the shape of the site with minimal impact on existing
site conditions.

The simple cuboidal form of the building is topped by a pitched

roof that gives the building extra height.
The otherwise simple façade is made more aesthetically pleasing by
the addition of a layer of cladding that extends across the
north and east façade.
A projection in the form of a massive cantilever further makes
the façade more interesting, while also serving as a drop off
point for the users.

FORM AND VOLUME BANGALORE INTERNATIONAL CENTER
The trapezium form of the building fits snug within the
boundaries of the site and follows its shape to maximize the
utilization of the limited area available.
The terrace of the building serves as an amphitheater thereby
maximizing the utilization of space in the building.

The bulk of the trapezoidal structure is made more breathable

by creating voids in the form of balconies.
Use of glass along the façade also helps give the building a
feeling of transparency and makes it less bulky.
Vertical projections in the form of fins enhances the
verticality of the building, thereby balancing out the long
horizontal extent.

The exposed structure represents the culmination of form and

the building in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

The barrel vaulted roof furthermore accentuates the height

of the building and creates a sense of openness.

PRINCIPLES OF ARCHITECTURE
The interior of the exhibition halls lack any
point of attraction or embellishment.

The halls are kept bare with an unsaturated

neutral color palette to cater to the
preferences of all the different users.

AXIS: The multiple halls are located axially, giving the

complex more uniformity, furthermore simplifying navigation.

SYMMETRY: The structure in itself is symmetric in nature, which is

more pleasing to the eye.

BALANCE: The horizontal extent of the building is balanced

out by the height of the roof achieved by a barrel vaulted
roofing system.

RYTHYM: Can be experienced in the interiors of the hall through

PRINCIPLES OF ARCHITECTURE
LINES: The elevation is composed of imposing straight lines both

gives the building a mighty appearance despite the site area constraints.

Lines are also a prominent feature in the interior of the buildings, which
can be observed in the form of triple heighted spaces, linear stretches
of stairways, column, exposed beam network, jali patterns,
overhangs, pergolas etc.

RHYTHYM: The vertical element in the form of concrete fins are
