Turley(1996) proposes a model for nursing

informatics that incorporates other disciplines

including cognitive science that has implications
for education. This model supports a
multidisciplinary approach and encompasses
computer science, information science and
cognitive science within the domain of nursing
science. The intersection of the information,
cognitive, and computer sciences underpins
informatics. The Turley model gives credence to
the importance of cognition in the application of
information technology and management in
nursing education.
