What is Gastroenteritis ?
• An intestinal infection marked by diarrhoea, cramps, nausea, vomiting and fever.

Symptoms:
• Diarrhoea, cramps, nausea, vomiting and low-grade fever are common symptoms.
Non-pharmacological management:
• Avoiding contaminated food and water and washing hands can often help prevent infection.
Rest and rehydration are the mainstays of treatment.
pharmacological management:
• Use of antibiotics and antacids.

Assesment:
A 24 years old male came with complains as
assembled in the subjective data. As on day 1
patient was undergone for ugi scopy which gave
the reports of mild anteral gastritis, which give
the diagnosis of H.pylori induced gastritits.

Problem identified:
h.pylori test was not performed

Drug Interaction:
clarithromycin+ondansetron: clarithromycin and
ondansetron both increase Qtc interval , avoid or
use alternative drugs.
Plan:
Gestroentritis is disease which cause swelling in the stomach which causes burning due to
acidity.

Goals of therapy: (under Assesment)


Treat symptoms ( fever, pain) as indicated.
Identify complications.
Prevent the spread of infections.
To control the inflamation

Lifestyle modifications:
Take more amount of liquids
Avoid OTC medication
To stop eating oliy and spicy food for fews days
Take rest
Start eating food which are easily diagestable food. Like banana,rice etc..
Patient counselling regarding discharge medication

1.pantop kit(Clarithromycin+pantoprazole+amoxicillin) (1-0-1)


- Used for reducing acidity of stomach.
- it should be taken at day and night.
-common side effects – Diarrhoea , vomiting,nausea,headache.

2.cap darolac(probiotic)(1-0-1)
-it is given here for treatment or GI discomfort and to improve
digestion.
It should be taken twice a day.
Common side effects:
Bloating,difficulty in breathing , GIT infection
3.Tab.mvbc(multivitamin-B-complex)(0-1-0)
it is given here to prevent deficiency of vitamin.
It should be taken once daily.
Common side effects – constipation , nausea, stomach upset

instructions:
take missed dose as soon as you remember,do not take extra
dose, do not take two does at one time.
