Rationale for the inclusion of the course/module in the programme :
The course aims to produce students who are able to apply soft skills(
com skils, attitude,leardership skill, creativity, logic thinking, )
effectively in a variety of situations and this module also aims at
producing students who are able to contribute to the holistic
community

Explain the concept of community service projects
Community service is work done by a person or group of people that

benefits others. It is often done near the area where you live, so your
own community reaps the benefits of your work. You do not get paid
to perform community service

Community service can help any group of people in need:

 children,
 senior citizens,
 people with disabilities, and more.
 It can also help animals,
 Community service is often organized through a local group, such
as a place of , school, or non-profit organization. You can also
start your own community service projects

Self readiness as a volunteer

The importance of community service

Build Personal Development
many students learn about their personal strengths and
weaknesses. When you're working on campaigns and projects and
getting to see real-life results, you'll get to know how your personal
attributes and actions can make a difference. Many of these qualities
are things that students can’t get good feedback in the classroom. For
example, students may learn that they have excellent skills in coping
with a crisis or other stressful situations, This kind of exposure to
different situations can then teach students how to further develop
skills that they have, and how to work on areas they struggle in. In
particular, students find that they are able to develop skills
in leadership, communication, working well with a team, and finding
solutions for problems.

Health Benefits
Volunteering can also help protect people from depression during
challenging times, as it tends to help create a strong support system
for participants. Volunteering also keeps people physically healthy
by keeping them active. Certain activities, such as working to clean

• Communication skills are the key to developing friendships and to building a
strong social support network. Its also help you take care of your own needs,
while being respectful of the needs of others.
• People aren’t born with good communication skills; like any other skill, they
are learned through trial and error and repeated practice.

both verbally and non-verbally,
• Human beings are sociable creatures and we have developed many ways to
communicate our messages, thoughts and feelings with others.

advancement. One of many soft skills that employers value, leadership skills often incorporate several
different personality traits and communication abilities that are useful for anyone to learn and practice over

• Leadership skills are skills you use when organizing other people to reach a shared goal. Whether you’re in
a management position or leading a project, leadership skills require you to motivate others to complete a
series of tasks, often according to a schedule. Leadership is not just one skill but rather a combination of
several different skills working together.
• Effective leaders are essential to any organization. They can help build strong teams and ensure projects,
initiatives or other work functions are performed successfully. Because the skills of a leader involve multiple
interpersonal and communication skills
• Some examples of skills that make a strong leader include:
1. Problem-solving
• Good leaders are skilled at problem-solving issues that arise.
Effective problem solving often requires staying calm and
identifying a step-by-step solution. Problem-solving skills can help
leaders make quick decisions, resolve obstacles with their team,

• One of the skills that differentiates leadership from many other
competencies is the ability to teach and mentor. this skill requires that

• Leadership requires the ability to build and maintain a strong and
collaborative team of individuals working toward the same goal. Team
building requires other leadership strengths, like effective
communication skills and conflict resolution.

• To be an effective leader, you should be confident enough to ensure
that other follow your commands. If you are unsure about your own
decisions and qualities, then your subordinates will never follow
you. This does not mean that you should be overconfident, but you
should at least reflect the degree of confidence required to ensure
that your followers trust you as a leader.
5. Commitment and Passion
• Your teams look up to you and if you want them to give them their all, you will have
to be passionate about it too. When your teammates see you getting your hands dirty,
they will also give their best shot. It will also help you to gain the respect of your
subordinates and infuse new energy in your team members, which helps them to

• In order to get ahead in today’s fast-paced world, a leader must be creative and
innovative at the same time. Creative thinking and constant innovation is what makes
you and your team stand out from the crowd. Think out of the box to come up with
unique ideas and turn those ideas and goals into reality.

There are hundreds of ways to participate in community service,

depending on your skills and interests. Some common community service
examples include:
Working with schoolchildren: Tutoring children after school, collecting
school supplies to donate, planting a school garden.
Working with senior citizens: Visiting residents of a retirement center,
delivering meals to senior citizens, driving them to appointments.
Improving the environment: Holding a recycling contest, planting trees,
creating a new trail at a nature center.
Helping low-income people: Passing out food at a soup kitchen, collecting
used clothes to be donated, making first aid kits for homeless shelters.
