IDEAL DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES

Includes the descriptions and

importance of the procedure
which are supposed to be done
according to the book if they
were not ordered.
Ideal Diagnostic Procedures
(PNEUMONIA)
Chest X-ray –
confirms the
presence of
pneumonia and
determine the
extent and location
of the infection.
Diagnostic Test

Routine Laboratory Tests include:

 CBC
Used to confirm an infection and to try to identify the type
of organism causing the infection. However, precise
identification isn't always possible.
SPUTUM TEST

 A sample of fluid from the lungs

(sputum) is taken after a deep cough
and analyzed to help pinpoint the
cause of the infection.
Diagnostic Test

Pulmonary
Function Test
– to rule out
other disease
processes
– evaluate lung
function
ACTUAL DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES

Remember to relate them to

the case of the patient and
normal values should be
appropriate for patient’s
age.
