GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
• Carry out the nursing care protocol in anesthesia, apply the scientific
knowledge previously acquired, for patient care, visualize the
complications that may occur at different pre-operative, infra-operative
and postoperative moments, through the implementation of care of
nursing.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

• Apply knowledge in nursing care based on the nursing protocol with the
management of surgically operated patients.

• Identify the adverse effects that may occur after surgery under different
types of anesthesia.

• Know the care that should be performed in the surgery rooms during
surgical interventions.
-
• The act of anesthesia gives the patient
comfort during surgery, being the choice of
anesthesia based on the class, duration and
position required during the surgical
procedure, associated with the patient's
clinical, mental and psychological conditions.
Anesthesia classes are classified
into:
general, regional and sedation.
General anesthesia is necessary for those
procedures that require unconsciousness and
complete immobility. • Combined
anesthesia

Regional anesthesia is chosen for surgical procedures that

address upper or lower limbs, abdomen or pelvic region. It can
work by epidural block, subarachnoid or nerve plexus

Sedation points to patient comfort in small or outpatient surgical procedures,

contributing to the reduction of anxiety, analgesia, reduced movement and
maintenance of hemodynamic stability, especially respiratory pattern and
cardiovascular function.
events
adverse effects related to anesthesia

• These events are mainly related to the

respiratory system, the cardiovascular system,
with errors in the application of regional blocks,
equipment and device failures, adverse
reactions to medications and injuries related to
surgical positioning.
Nursing Interventions.

• Among the management activities

is the control of equipment and
materials necessary for the
anesthetic-surgical procedure,
administration of the procedure
rooms, as well as the supervision
of the activities and care
performed by the nursing
technicians.
The execution of surgical patient care
includes:
• intraoperative monitoring
• administration of medications and blood
products.
• urinary catheter
• assistance during anesthesia, surgical position
• infection control through the availability of
sterile materials and antiseptic measures
With respect to anesthesia care:

• The nurse of the surgical center works on the

provision of the necessary materials and
equipment, according to the type of anesthesia, in
the monitoring of the patient, in the monitoring
of intubation and in the control of ventilation
during anesthetic induction, helping to control the
vital signs, endotracheal aspiration and patient
transport in the reversal phase of anesthesia.
Surgical patient care in five steps:

• preoperative evaluation.
• problem identification
• care planning.
• implementation of nursing care in the
transoperative period and postoperative
critics
Anesthesia assistance periods:

• before induction (organize).

• anesthetic induction (assist)

• reversal (control).
