• Anant Damodar Raje  was an


Indian architect and academic.
• Anant Raje was born in Nashik, India. He studied at
the Sir J. J. College of Architecture.
• He worked with Louis Kahn.
Major buildings made by him are:-
Indian Institute of Forest Management,
Bhopal
• IIFM is an institutional building of
Modern Architectural style which
was inspired by the concept of
continuity.
• It is situated on a hill giving it a
scenic location surrounded by water
on three sides during good
monsoons.
• Walls are cladded with stone in
shades of green and yellow grey.

• The project site is in the urban section of
Bhopal.
• It is a typical urban lot of land with a maximum
floor space index 1.2.
• This demonstrates that even though the entire
plot is covered by the building to get the
maximum land utilization.
• It has enough open space for terraces built
and integrated in the composition of the layout.
• The elevated terrace levels keep the pedestrian
movement isolated from the vehicular traffic.

• Modern architecture developed against a background of
19th century imitations of earlier styles, ranging from
Italian Renaissance, Gothic, and baroque through the
neoclassical.
• As a reaction against the artificiality of the 19th century,
modern architects declared that form should result from
function.
• With the breakdown of the old social order after the
Industrial Revolution, there arose a need for new types
of buildings
• Steel frames with reinforced concrete came to be used
as materials.
• Huge warehouses were built to store raw materials and
machinery.
• Powerful bridges and docks were constructed to bear
the weight of heavy transport.
• Factories were designed so that all of the available
space was put to good use.

Karan Grover
• Born on 22nd August 1951, Ar. Grover completed a Bachelor of
Architecture in 1974 Graduate Diploma in 1975. Ar Karan is inarguably
the most influential green architect and a celebrated one based in
Gujarat.
• His designs are people centric and he supports the idea of
interweaving the use of passive strategies and new technologies
together.
• His idea is not to create an immutable built space, but an
environment which showcases the beauty of nature and is also region
specific.
