INTRODUCTION
 SANDIP FOUNDATION’S college of SITRC ( Sandip Institute of Technology and Research
Centre) has Department of Management Studies which every year organizes a business game
called BATTLEFIELD. This year it included the Wave – X of this success story.

 The pure motive behind, staff and college including such game as a part of co-curricular
activities in the academic year is to inculcate the business skills into the budding entrepreneurs
and the market owners in the nearby future.

 Battlefield is all about students learning all the ways to survive into the market, various
activities of running a smooth business and above all to know the bitter truth of moulding
yourself according to the situations prevailing into the market or certain undefined risks.

 The student had to plan, organize, co-ordinate, control and stand the market situations and
hurdles as such with their self-designed products and had to handle the consumer cell on their
own.
OBJECTIVES:

 To learn the management functions.

 To learn the marketing strategies.
 Perform activity as a team.
 Tactics to handle the consumer cell.

WHY BATTLEFIELD IS ORGANIZED?

 Battlefield is an activity which is organized to experience the market in real

conditions.
 It helps us implement the basic functions of management i.e planning, staffing,
controlling, directing and organizing.
 It urges students to build co-ordination between them for the smooth functioning
of the activity.
 As an MBA student this activity teaches us to think and act in difficult situations
and taking the right decision as per the situation persist.

MARKET SURVEY
 The market survey was done by the team members about which type of food most
people prefer.
 So we visited few of famous food streets of Nasik and tried to gather as many
data we could.
 The parameters were based upon what do people think when they are out on
streets to eat.
 Does the cost of the item matter to them or the quality?
 The research concluded that the people would like to pay for good quality of the
food.
 Hence, accordingly our menu card was prepared.
SPOT SELECTION:

 All the groups were allocated different locations in the city.

 The spot which we got was near BURGER KING, College road.
 A day prior to the activity we visited the location and asked for the
permission of the nearby shopkeepers which was granted.
 This place was beyond perfection for our stall because we got the
tremendous response from customer side
PLANING
 It is the basic function of management. It deals with chalking out a future course
of action & deciding in advance the most appropriate course of actions for
achievement of pre-determined goals.
 According to KOONTZ, “Planning is deciding in advance - what to do, when to
do & how to do. It bridges the gap from where we are & where we want to be”.
 Planning is determination of courses of action to achieve desired goals. Thus,
planning is a systematic thinking about ways &means for accomplishment of
predetermined goals.
 Planning is necessary to ensure proper utilization of human & non-human
resources.
 It is all pervasive, it is an intellectual activity and it also helps in avoiding
confusion, uncertainties, risks, wastages etc.
PLANING FOR BATTLEFIELD
ORGANIZING
 It is the process of bringing together physical, financial and human resources and
developing productive relationship amongst them for achievement of
organizational goals.
 According to Henry Fayol, “To organize a business is to provide it with
everything useful or its functioning i.e. raw material, tools, capital and
personnel’s”.
 To organize a business involves determining & providing human and non-human
resources to the organizational structure. Organizing as a process involves:
1. Identification of activities.
2. Classification of grouping of activities.
3. Assignment of duties.
4. Delegation of authority and creation of responsibility.
5. Coordinating authority and responsibility relationships.
STAFFING
 It is the function of managing the organization structure. Staffing has assumed
greater importance in the recent years due to advancement of technology, increase
in size of business, complexity of human behavior etc.
 The main purpose of staffing is to put right man on right job i.e. square pegs in
square holes and round pegs in round holes.
 Staffing involves:
1. Manpower Planning (estimating man power in terms of searching, choose the
person and giving the right place).
2. Recruitment, Selection & Placement.
3. Training & Development.
4. Remuneration.
5. Performance Appraisal.
6. Promotions & Transfer
DIRECTING
 It is that part of managerial function which actuates the organizational methods to
work efficiently for achievement of organizational purposes.
 It is considered life-spark of the enterprise which sets it in motion the action of
people because planning, organizing and staffing are the mere preparations for
doing the work.
 Direction is that inert-personnel aspect of management which deals directly with
influencing, guiding, supervising, motivating sub-ordinate for the achievement of
organizational goals. Direction has following elements:
 Supervision
 Motivation
 Leadership
Supervision- implies overseeing the work of subordinates by their superiors. It is the act
of watching & directing work & workers.
Motivation- means inspiring, stimulating or encouraging the sub-ordinates with zeal to
work. Positive, negative, monetary, non-monetary incentives may be used for this
purpose.
Leadership- may be defined as a process by which manager guides and influences the
work of subordinates in desired direction.
Communications- is the process of passing information, experience, opinion etc from
one person to another. It is a bridge of understanding.
CONTROLLING
 It implies measurement of accomplishment against the standards and correction of
deviation if any to ensure achievement of organizational goals.
 The purpose of controlling is to ensure that everything occurs in conformities with the
standards. An efficient system of control helps to predict deviations before they actually
occur.
 According to Theo Haimann, “Controlling is the process of checking whether or not proper
progress is being made towards the objectives and goals and acting if necessary, to correct
any deviation”.
 Therefore controlling has following steps:
1. Establishment of standard performance.
2. Measurement of actual performance.
3. Comparison of actual performance with the standards and finding out deviation if any.
4. Corrective action.

 Profit margin usually implies to a specific product or while calculating the
“Gross Profit Margin” helps any company or business to determine pricing
decisions.

minus certain expenses.

OBSERVATION
 Market is not a bed of roses so you got to stand it with only consumer derived goods.

 To deal with consumers or to face them is the most difficult task because you get
customers from different economic, social, political, religious backgrounds and at the
same time you cannot satisfy the entire range of crowd prevailing into the country.

 Above all you got to have the convincing power when you go around marketing your
product because that is the power that will convert the crowd into your customers.

 The core pillars on to which you will stand and drive the market are none other than
innovation and creativity.

 Marketing is the most essential part when you talk about the success story of any
leading market brand.
Hygiene yet another aspect a customer looks forward when they enter into the market.

And yes keeping your cool is what you need to have while dealing with your customer,
would be customer, or even while leading the team.

You need to get your stock and update it as soon as you see a change among customers
about your products.

People give huge response to the product whenever the word CSR is attached to it,
even though they do not wish to consume the product they will buy it so that the
monetary return the group will generate will be used in the better cause of the society.

People in the college road side prefer handy and ease to eat products rather than the
nutritious and healthy food, we can say that those people prefer much of junk food.
CONCLUSION
Management is the most significant concept when we have to perform a task.
The goals & objectives which we have have decided to attend. And to fulfill that
objectives we have to control all management feature i.e PLANNING , STAFFING ,
CONTROLLING , IMPLIMENTING, UNAMINITY , CO-ORDINATING .. that I
have learned from it.
In future and also in any upcoming event now I can easily understand
the process and the basic strategy making point after that with this battlefield
experience I can perform that activity very smoothly ,with no more efforts .Battlefield
gives me all over idea about the how to conduct any programme till its concludation.
The effective work need’s an support of all the management function .So, finally It
was a great experience about battlefield of 2017……
