OBJECTIVES
 This system would provide a simple way to
detect an electrical power theft without any
human interface.
 To maximize the profit margin of power utility
company.

PROJECT COMPONENT
• Energy meter
• Relay
• Bluetooth module
• IR Sensor (Tx- Rx)
• Arduino
• LED
• Voltage Regulator
• Diode
• IC 7805
ENERGY METER
 The meter which is used
for measuring the energy utilizes by the electric load is
known as the energy meter.
 The energy is the total power consumed and utilized by the
load at a particular interval of time.
RELAY

 A relay is an electrically operated switch.
 A protective relay is a relay device designed to trip a
circuit breaker when fault is detected.
BLUETOOTH MODULE:-

 Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard used for

exchanging data between fixed and mobile devices
over short distances using short-
wavelength UHF radio waves in the industrial,
scientific and medical radio bands, from 2.400 GHz
to 2.485 GHz, and building personal area
networks (PANs).
IR SENSOR
An infrared sensor is an electronic device, that
emits in order to sense some aspects of the
surroundings. An IR sensor can measure the heat of
an object as well as detects the motion.

a). IR TRANSMITTER
Infrared Transmitter is a light emitting diode (LED)
which emits infrared radiations.
b).IR RECEIVER

Infrared receivers are also called as infrared

sensors as they detect the radiation from an IR
transmitter.

IR receivers come in the form of photodiodes and

phototransistors.
ARDUINO
 Arduino is an open source computer hardware and
software company, project and user community that
designs and manufactures single-board.

 Microcontrollers and microcontroller kits for building

digital devices and interactive objects that can sense and
control objects in the physical world.
LED

 A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light

source that emits light when current flows through it.

 Electrons in the semiconductor recombine

with electron holes, releasing energy in the form
of photons.
VOLTAGE REGULATOR
 A voltage regulator is a system designed to
automatically maintain a constant voltage level.

 It may use an electromechanical mechanism, or

electronic components. Depending on the design, it
may be used to regulate one or more AC or DC
voltages.
DIODE

A diode is defined as a two-terminal electronic

component that only conducts current in one
direction (so long as it is operated within a specified
voltage level).

 An ideal diode will have zero resistance in one

direction, and infinite resistance in the reverse
direction.
IC 7805

 IC 7805 is a 5V Voltage Regulator that restricts the

output voltage to 5V output for various ranges of input
voltage.

 It is inexpensive, easily available and very much

commonly used. With few capacitors and this IC you can
build pretty solid and reliable voltage regulator in no time

 A circuit diagram with pin out is given.

ADVANTAGE

Theft processing will lost.

 Voltage fluctuation will minimize.
 Wireless full monitoring.
 Not able to adjust or theft in our meter.
 Load will proper according to their use.
DISADVANTAGE

 Here we must assume the fixed load.

 Here we have to calculate the maximum load capacity

of every authorized consumer.

 If any authorized consumer tampering their energy

meter then by this power theft detector we are unable to
detect that type of power theft.
FUTURE SCOPE

As we know in our country power theft is the most

considerable issue for the power utility, so the
power theft detector may become a useful asset to
power utility.
