• A set of familiar words within a person’s
language.
• Developed with age
• Serves as a useful and fundamental tool for
communication and acquiring knowledge
Vocabulary

The two types of vocabulary-in-context questions:


• Common words
• Less common words

You are asked to identify the meaning of short phrases.

Example: “in its wake” as a consequence

The context determines the meaning


Strategies:

1. Plug in your own word and find the answer

2. Plug each answer choice into the sentence
3. Play positive/negative, then plug in
