verbs by adding
the suffix –ed to
the infinitive.
The Spelling rules
for the past:
• Inf. + -ed:

• Inf ending consonant + -y: -ied

• One- syllable verbs (CVC): double the cons. + -ed

• /t/ when the infinitive ends in a VOICELESS Consonant ( /p/, /k/,/ks/, /s/
, /f/, /h/, /Í/, /S/ ).
