● Finale of ST and, ostensibly, the Skywalker Saga. JJ Abrams directing again after TFA,
after the original director Colin Trevorrow was let go (he's still got a script credit).

● First impressions?
● Is it too safe? It may not be as derivative as TFA, but isn't exactly inspired or bold either.
● TLJ obviously had a noisy contingent of detractors, which raised questions about
backtracking. Did it go too far? What's the result? (more vanilla storytelling)
○ Rey suffered the most from this. The Palpatine reveal is boring and unnecessary,
and her character regressed instead of moving forward
● How do we feel about Palpatine’s inclusion?
● Can the saga continue? Rey taking on the Skywalker mantle opens up the possibility.
How would it work? (by being different)
 More Star Wars Thoughts
● Pacing was very fast/action packed. Kept things exciting, but we didn't have much room
to breathe. New characters didn't get much time to shine.
○ Keri Russell as Zorii Bliss, Naomi Ackie as Jannah, Dominic Monaghan as
Beaumont?? Also the Knights of Ren, who don't even have names, per IMDB
○ Babu Frik and D-O(voiced by JJ!), though, were wonderful, and Richard E. Grant’s
Pryde worked, a la Tarkin. Convincingly evil, and that's enough.
● Jedi voices at the end are a perfect example of good fan service. FYI, they were Anakin,
Luminara, Ahsoka, Aayla Secura, Windu, young and old Kenobi, Yoda, Adi Gallia,
Kannan Jarus, and Qui-Gon
● The Rey/Kylo battle was great. Echoes of Luke/Vader in RotJ. Actually felt like they were
fighting, as opposed to all of the prequel fights
● Leia was well included, I thought. And I will be purchasing that lightsaber.
● Obsessed with the festival scene
● Two women kissed in the end celebration. Fine.

● WHY
● ALW is shit, the show is shit, and now everyone knows it
● Part of the best part of the show is the costumes and this did away with that
● The faces were off
● Why did Judi Dench look at me
