To equip the participants with
 Theoretical knowledge of IMS background, architecture,
protocols, and call flows.
 Hands-on exposure to set-up an IMS network, configure
network elements, test, trace/debug and analyze results,
using a simulated IMS network environment.

 IMS protocols and standards
 IMS call flows – E2E scenarios
 The different facets of IMS i.e.:
• Registration
• Quality of service and policy handling
• Session initiation , maintenance and call closure
• subscription notification
• IMS handover and roaming
• SIP – what is SIP and its basics
• IMS interconnection to other networks ( PSTN , PLMN ,etc )
• Types of user identities and profile handling in IMS
• Security handling

 How to approach IMS testing and what it means
 Methods and approaches to set up the IMS test environment
and test beds, for e.g.:
 Single component just plugged into an automated test suite
 SUT with partially or fully simulated components
 E2E scenarios with simulated components
 Entire network with all real IMS components (e.g.,
feature/load/performance tests)
Note – The above will cover how to define the IMS test strategy and
scope
 Defining the test environment - i.e the actual network with its
actual physical components and its interconnection to other
networks.
 Configuring the IMS network components individually
 Testing the major IMS components and protocols
 Automation framework and scripts
 How to define IMS test cases and test scenarios
 Tracing tools methods and debugging
 Analysis of test results
