INCARNATION
• “embodiment of God in the person of
Christ,”;
• "act of being made flesh"; Latin incarnari
• Jn 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and
made his dwelling among us, and we saw
his glory, the glory as of the Father’s
only Son, full of grace and truth.”
21
Catechism of the
Catholic Church
• “does not mean that Jesus Christ is part
God and part man, nor does it imply
that he is the result of a confused
mixture of the divine and the human.
He became truly man while remaining
truly God. Jesus Christ is true God and
true man.”
22
Catechism of the
Catholic Church
• “The Son of God . . . worked with
human hands; he thought with a human
mind. He acted with a human will, and
with a human heart he loved. Born of
the Virgin Mary, he has truly been made
one of us, like to us in all things except
sin.”
23
Catechism of the
Catholic Church
• Therefore it follows that Jesus’ earthly
existence is an exemplar to humanity.
In all of his life Jesus presents himself
as our model. He is "the perfect man",
who invites us to become his disciples
and follow him. In humbling himself, he
has given us an example to imitate,
through his prayer he draws us to pray,
and by his poverty he calls us to accept
freely the privation and persecutions
that may come our way.”
24
PASCHAL MYSTERY
• speaks of the “passion, crucifixion,
death, burial, descent into hell,
resurrection and ascension of Christ.”
• Answers the question: In what
measure can we see the love of God
in man?
25
PASCHAL MYSTERY
• The passion of Christ begins with his
humanity seemingly taking over in the
Garden of Gethsemane saying,
“Father, if you are willing, take this
cup away from me; still, not my will
but yours be done.” (Lk 22:42)
26
PASCHAL MYSTERY
• The reality of pain and suffering is one
that confronts human dignity with all
its freedom and rights. Jesus chooses
to submit himself to the Father’s will
of reminding humanity the His love is
greater even death. Isn’t it a reality
among us that we love even we know
that we are going to be hurt?
27
PASCHAL MYSTERY
At His death, Jesus mentioned these
words, “My God, my God, why have
you forsaken me?” (Mt 27:46) These
words seemingly abandoned Jesus on
the Cross by the Father. Rather, it
reechoed Ps. 22 as the prophecy for
the coming messiah. The power of
death ceases all of human dignity but
the glory of resurrection elevates
humanity as partakers of divine
nature.

Anselmian Theology
“
“According to that doctrine, sin
was a violation of the honour of
God. God offered human beings
life if they rendered
satisfaction for that violation,
but the longer a person lived,
the worse the situation
became.
29
Anselmian Theology
“
Only a life that was truly human
and yet had infinite worth
would have been enough to give
such a satisfaction to the
violated honour of God on
behalf of the entire human
race. Such a life was that of
Jesus Christ,
30
Anselmian Theology
“
whom the mercy of God sent as
a means of satisfying the justice
of God. Because he was a true
human being, his life and death
could be valid for all human
beings, and, because he was
true God, his life and death
could be valid for all of
humanity. 31
Anselmian Theology
“
By accepting the fruits of his
life and death, humankind
could receive the benefits of
his satisfaction.”
32
“
To understand the mystery of
the passion, death, and
resurrection, is to see the
language of love and the cross
of Jesus. Is it the cross or the
love of God that save humanity?
33
“
It is love with the language of
the cross that reminds man of
his worth in the eyes of God.
Love and the cross may be
translated into the kind of love
which is, agape—self-sacrificing
love.
34
Opening the way and fulfillment
of human dignity, the Paschal
“
36
With these new perspective on the authenticity of Jesus’
“
humanity, pray later before sleep and try to talk/relate with
Him. Because now you know that Christ has also experienced
some of your human struggles and pains. Perhaps in this way,
you may want to open up something about yourself.

PRAYER AFTER CLASS
May God the Father bless us.
May God the Son heal us.
May God the Holy Spirit enlighten us,
and give us eyes to see with,
ears to hear with, hands to do work
of God with,
feet to walk with, a mouth to preach
the word of salvation with,
and the angel of peace to watch over
us
and lead us at last,
by our Lord’s gift, to the Kingdom.
