LET
✘ is called on points that don't count. When you serve a ball that
bounces on your side, then hits the net, but continues over and
bounces on the opponent's side of the table, that is a 'let' and
does not count.

Another example of a let is when the match is interfered with

from an outside event (eg. a ball from the next court rolls into
your playing area).

✘ 1. If in service the ball, in passing over or around the net
assembly, touches it, provided the service is otherwise correct

or the ball is obstructed by the receiver or his or her partner.
✘ 2. If the service is delivered when the receiving player or pair is
not ready, provided that neither the receiver nor his or her

each game, the first player to reach 11 points wins that game,
however a game must be won by at least a two point margin. A
point is scored after each ball is put into play (not just when the
server wins the point as in volleyball).

switch server. However, if a score of 10-10
reached in any game, then each server serves only

✘ The choice of ends, and who serves, happens before the match
begins. This is decided by a toss before the warm-up begins.

✘ The player (or team) who wins the coin toss (or spin of the
racket) may choose one of the following options:
1. To serve or be the receiver for the 1st game of the match, in
which case the opponent gets to choose which end to play on.
2. The end of the court for the 1st game of the match, in which
case the opponent gets to choose whether to serve or receive.
