WHEEL LOADER

A loader is a heavy equipment

machine (often used in construction)
that is primarily used to "load" material
(asphalt, demolition debris, dirt, feed,
gravel, logs, raw minerals, recycled
material, rock, sand, wood chips, etc.)
into or onto another type of machinery
(dump truck, conveyor belt, feed-
hopper, rail-car, etc.).

Volvo transmissions
Transmission
• All Volvo
transmissions are
designed for perfect
match with the rest of
the drive train.
• The countershaft
concept means fewer
moving parts, giving
higher availability and
better operator
reliability.
• A built-in pump
lubricates the
transmission
effectively and at the
right temperature.
• Breather filter for
longer service life.
11
Axles and Brakes

Perfect match
• Volvo’s axles are
an integrated
part of the drive
train – an
effective power
pack for top
reliability.

12
Axles and Brakes

Smooth and effective

braking
• Volvo machines
feature oil circulation-
cooled outboard-
mounted wet disc
brakes for long service
life and smooth
braking.
• The brake system has
two circuits, one for the
front axle and one for
the rear axle. Each
circuit has back-up
accumulators.

13
Hydraulic System

Load-sensing hydraulics
• Volvo’s machines are
equipped with a load-
sensing hydraulic system.
• The pumps are axial piston
pumps with variable flow,
giving short cycle times
and faster lift and tilt
functions.
• The load-sensing system
and steering system are
well incorporated in the
working hydraulic system,
but the steering system
has priority for the highest
level of safety.

14
Hydraulic System

Load-sensing hydraulics
• The load-sensing hydraulics
provide full working pressure
when it’s needed, without
using unnecessary power.
• When neither flow nor
pressure is needed, no oil is
pumped around and the
engine power can be used by
the drivetrain.
• The system provides high
productivity and low fuel
consumption.

16
Loader Linkage
TP-Linkage
• The lift cylinders are
symmetrically mounted
directly under the lift arms,
and the tilt cylinder in the
middle.
• This design minimizes the
risk of shear forces and
twisting stresses.

17
Loader Linkage

TP-Linkage
• Volvo Wheel Loaders from
L60F up to L220G are
equipped with Torque
Parallel linkage, or TP
linkage.
• The patented system is
designed to handle tough
conditions. Fewer welds
give a strong and durable
design.
• The boom is constructed of
thick plates and a cast
steel cross tube.

18
Loader Linkage
Load and Carry
• The TP-linkage has
precise load and carry
capacity and good
bucket stability, even
when the bucket is not
resting against the
mechanical stops.
• Together with the Boom
Suspension System
(BSS), bucket spill,
pitching and bouncing is
significantly reduced,
increasing both operator
comfort and productivity.

19
Loader Linkage

Z-bar linkage
( L350 F )
• The Z-bar lift arm
system provides
superior force
throughout the lift cycle.
This makes for high
productivity in hard and
compact material, for
example, blast rock.
• It also provides great lift
capacity with filled
buckets at maximum
height.

20
Steering System

Load-sensing steering
• Load-sensing steering
system means that the
steering system is only
activated when the
steering wheel is turned.

21
Steering System

Load-sensing steering
• The hydraulic pump
delivers oil when
required, resulting in
low fuel
consumption.

22
Steering System

Easy to steer
• Steering is easy and requires little
force from the operator. Response is
still quick, even at low engine
speeds.
• The steering wheel is adjustable,
both tilt and telescopic.

23
Steering System

Easy to steer
• When operating in
tough conditions,
shocks from the ground
are not transmitted to
the steering wheel.
• The location of the
steering valve - outside
the cab - contributes to
a low noise level for the
operator.

Motor Grader
A grader, also commonly referred to as a road grader, a blade, a maintainer, or a motor grader, is a construction machine
with a long blade used to create a flat surface. Typical models have three axles, with the engine and cab situated above the
rear axles at one end of the vehicle and a third axle at the front end of the vehicle, with the blade in between. In certain
countries, for example in Finland, almost every grader is equipped with a second blade that is placed in front of the front axle.
Some hard hats refer to the entire machine as "the blade."
In civil engineering, the grader's purpose is to "finish grade" (refine, set precisely) the "rough grading" performed by heavy
equipment or engineering vehicles such as scrapers and bulldozers.
Graders can produce inclined surfaces and surfaces with cambered cross-sections for roads. In some countries they are used
to produce drainage ditches with shallow V-shaped cross-sections on either side of highways.
Graders are commonly used in the construction and maintenance of dirt roads and gravel roads. In the construction of paved
roads they are used to prepare the base course to create a wide flat surface for the asphalt to be placed on. Graders are also
used to set native soil foundation pads to finish grade prior to the construction of large buildings.
