Chavacano or Philippines Creole Spanish

is a Spanish-based creole spoken in
parts of the Philippines, especially in and
around the city of Zamboanga, by over
600,000 people. It is the only Spanish-
based creole in Asia and the only non-
Austronesian language to have
developed in the Philippines.
As a general orthographic rule, all words of
Spanish/European and Mexican origin are
spelt according to their original spelling in the
Spanish alphabet. Words from Philippine
languages are spelt in the native way along
Spanish rules. For example: jendeh, meaning
no or not, is not spelled as hinde because h is
always silent in the Spanish alphabet, thus it
is not spelled as in Tagalog.

 HILIGAYNON
Hiligaynon (Ilonggo) is a member of
Visayan branch of the Central Philippines
language family with about 9.3 million
native speakers and a further 5 million
second language speaker (in 2010).
Higaynon is spoken mainly in Iloilo
province on Panay Island in the Western
Visayas region. There are also speakers
in western Negros Island.
Hiligaynon is closely related to and mutually
intelligible with other languages spoken on Panay
Island: Capizeño, Aklanon, and Kiniray-a.
Hiligaynon has no official status in the Philippines,
even though it is one of the Philippine languages
with the most speakers. It has been taught and
studied in some schools and universities since
2012. Hiligaynon is currently with spelling system
based on Tagalog. Before the middle of the 20 t h
century it was written with a Spanish-based
orthography.
 SAMPLE TEXT IN HILIGAYNON
Ang tanan nga tao ginbun-ag nga hilway kag may
pag-alalangay sa dungog kag katurungan. Sila
ginhatagan sang pagmat-od kag konsensya kag
nagakadapat nga magbinuligay sa kahulugan sang
pag-inuturay.
Translation:
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity
and rights. They are endowed with reason and
conscience and should act towards one another in
a spirit of brotherhood.

 KINARAY-A
Kinaray-a is a member of the Visayan
branch of the Philippine language
family. It is spoken mainly in the
Province of Antique (Probinsiya kang
Antique) in the Western Visayas
region, and also in Iloilo and other
parts of Panay Island. In 1994 there
were 380, 000 Kinaray-a speakers.

 Ang Kinaray-a matahum, madalum, matuod, matam-is, kag
manggadan. Bukun dya ti labaw ukon kubus nga harambalun,
kag bisan tuod bukas sa pagsimpon agud mangin mas
madalumkag mas matayog, ang Kinaray-a puraw, nga angay
sa buta nga tadyaw, indi masimbugan kang tinaga nga
pangayaw.
 Kinaray-a is also known as karay-a, Hamtikanon, Hiniraya,
Binisaya nga Karay-a or Bisaya nga Kinaray-a. The name
Kinaray-a comes from iraya (mountain dwellers). Kinaray-a
speakers can understand Hiligaynon and Illonggo, however
speakers of those languages can only understand Kinaray-a if
they live in Kinaray-a speaking areas.
