Assessment Resit
You are a business consultant, and were approached by a client organisation from the
following industry which operate in both UK and India

: Grocery retailing (supermarket)

The client organisation would like to see:

• a comparison of the chosen industry’s performance in both countries between 2010 and
2019;
• the potential reasons (such as economic and other PESTL factors) for the differences or
similarities;
• a comparison of major competitors’ market size changes in each country over the same
period;
• the potential reasons that some competitors did better than others (PESTL);
• and your recommendation with regard to whether or not to expand in both or either of
the two countries.
Findings and discussions
what should you include?
Market Size
• 1. Provide an overview of the chosen industry in both countries over the specified period (data,
graphs, etc.)
• 2. Briefly explore the potential causes of the above observed performance based on the PESTL
framework (two factors including economic at the national or global level)

Company shares
• 3. Briefly provide an overview of the main companies of the same industry in both countries
between 2010-2019 (data, graphs)
• 4. Select two companies which experienced very different (opposite) performance (data, graphs) in
each country over the specified period. For example one company ‘s market share has gone up,
the other went down.
• 5. Explore potential causes of such different performance based on the PESTL framework (two
factors at the industrial or national level).

Recommendation
• 6. A brief comparison of the differences /similarities in both countries (performance/causes of the
industry or performance/causes of the companies studied). Your recommendation with regard to
whether or not to expand in both or either of the two countries.

Live resit session
Resit sessions have been made available to further support you with
this assignment. This will be an opportunity to speak with Ahecia Taylor
about what is required for your assignment.

The sessions will run on the following dates:

13th, 14th and 15th July via BBB for 1 hour.

The session will be the same on each day. 3 sessions are available
due to the availability of the students. If you cannot make the session
on 13th July, you may be able to make the session on 15th July. All
sessions will be recorded and upload to Canvas.
