1. Destination Resorts
 these are resorts that are many
miles away from their target market.
 these resorts are reached by the
use of air transportation to minimize
the travel time and maximize the
guest experience.
 A guests usually travel to these
resorts once or twice a year.

Example: resort in Davao or Boracay


2. Non-Destination Resorts
 resorts which easily can be reached
upon when travelling.

 Usually, you can drive to the resort


for about 2-3 hours and can be
frequented whenever a guest wishes
to.
Example: Caliraya Resort Club in
Laguna or Villa Escudero in Quezon

1. Ocean Based / Beach Resorts
 these are hotels which have the
ocean as the location.
 these resorts rely on sand and
sunshine.
 Boracay and Puerto Galera are
famous sites in the Philippines.
2. Lake / River Based Resorts
 By definition a lake is an area,
localized in a basin that is
surrounded by land apart from any
body of water or other outlet that
serves to feed or drain it.
 Typically in the Philippines, these
resorts are in the development
phase but famous resorts that could
be found in the country include the
Loboc River Resort in Bohol and the
Caliraya Resort in Laguna.
3. Golf / Tennis Based Resorts
 Situated in a vast golf course,
golf/tennis based resorts rely mainly
on weather conditions because of
the nature of the activities / sport
that is closely linked with the
establishment.
 Golf courses are scattered in the
country but those with lodging
components are still developing.
Example: Camp John Hay Golf Club in
Baguio and Canyon Woods Resort
Club in Laurel, Batangas
4. Mountain Based / Ski Resorts
 is a place to holiday or vacation
located in a mountainous area.
 The term include ski resort, where
winter sports, including skiing,
snowboarding, ice climbing and ice
skating are practiced as well as
places where summer activities such
as mountain biking, mountain
boarding and hiking are pursued.

1. Traditional Lodging / Resort Hotel
 the most common form of resort
development.
 It requires relatively modest financial
investment.

 The guest at a traditional hotel


selects the property on the basis of
convenience.
 For the business traveler,
convenience might mean the hotel is
close to the highway or to the
businesses to be visited.
 For the leisure traveler, convenience
translates into proximity to the beach
or other tourist.
 Fine dining is just one attraction of
many traditional resorts.
2. Timeshare / Vacation Ownership
 A timeshare is a property with a
particular form of ownership or use
of rights.
 These properties are typically resort
condominium units, in which multiple
parties hold rights to use the
property, and each sharer is allotted
a period of time in which they may
use the property.
 Units may be on partial ownership,
lease, or “right to use” basis, in
which the sharer holds no claim to
ownership of the property.
3. Condominium Hotels (condotel)
 In a condominium hotel, guests buy
fee-simple equity in the unit-buying a
hotel guestroom.
 They can be used as permanent or
second homes.
4. Destination Clubs
 By joining a destination club, a
member gains access to a collection
of vacation homes in various
locations around the world in
exchange for a one-time
membership fee and annual
membership dues.
 Consistent with other vacation
options, inventory can be booked
based on availability.
 Some clubs allow members to
purchase different membership
types which offer different levels of
reservation priority, personalized
services and resort amenities such
as beach clubs, luxury spas and
private chefs.
