Different Ethnic Instruments:
1. Gangsa ( an old name for copper or
brass)
- is a flat gong without boss and consid
ered as the most treasured instrument a
mong the Kalinga.
-played during festivities like peace agr
eements, burial rites, or head-hunting c
eremonies.
Gangsa
*Two ways of playing gangsa:
A. Gangsa-topayya- is a set of six grad
uated gongs tied to the belts of six men
who kneel down and lay their gongs on
their lap. The player strikes and slides t
he gong to make a ringing sound by usi
ng the left hand and immediately produ
cing a dampened sound as they slide th
e right hand forwar on the surface of th
e gong.
B. Gangsa-palook
- t is a stringed instrument
made from a single bamb
oo piece around 3-4 inche
s in diameter with a node
at each end
8. Saggeypo (pipe)
- is a set of five, six or more bambo
o pipes with different sizes played i
n three or more ensembles.
- played by both young and old wo
men or men during relaxation and
when they socilaize with other tribe
s.
9. Diwdiw- as ( panpipes)
- it is a row of five or more slim ba
mboo tubes of varying lenghts tied t
o each other. This is the igorot term
for panpipes.

10. Tongali
- is an instrument from Ifugao and Kali
nga.
- it is a nose flute instrument originated
from many tribes.
- it has five finger holes.
- played solo and for general entertain
ment.
