QUES 1 WHAT ARE THE MECHANICAL EQUIPMENTS IN AN AC?

ANS
1 COMPRESSOR
Compresses the refrigerant from low pressure (low temperature) to high pressure
(high temperature). This conversion raises the boiling point to higher temperature
levels, facilitating elimination of the heat brought by the outdoor air.

2 CONDENSER
This component receives gas at high pressure and high temperature from the compressor.
In air-cooled condensers, the metallic surfaces cool the gas which changes status and turn
s to liquid. In the case of water-cooled condensers, it is the circulation of the water that
produces the same cooling effect.

3 EVAPORATOR
When the refrigerant evaporates in the evaporator, it absorbs heat from the surrounding
air and produces cooled air.

4 CAPILLARY TUBE
A narrowing of the tube connected along the line between the condenser and the
evaporator with diameters ranging from 1 to 2 mm. and lengths ranging between
1 and 2 m, allows the adjustment of the amount of gas fed to the evaporator.

5 INDOOR FAN
It exhausts air from the indoor environment and conveys it through the evaporator; the air is now cool and
distributed back into the environment

6 OUTDOOR FAN
This causes the air to circulate through the condenser in order to cool the refrigerant.

7 CONDENSER COIL
A network of tubes filled with refrigerant that remove heat from the heated gas refrigerant
and convert the refrigerant into a liquid form again. The excess heat escapes into the outside
air.

8 AIR FILTERS
Air filter elements trap dust, pollen, and other airborne particles as air moves through the
air conditioning system. Air filters contribute to both reliable air conditioner operation and
health, so we dedicated a page to them.
9 AIR HANDLING UNIT
The blower and related portion of the central air conditioning system that moves air through the air ducts

10 DIFFUSER
It is a device for reducing the velocity and increasing the static pressure of a fluid
passing through a system”.
Diffusers are used to slow the fluid's velocity while increasing its static pressure.
The fluid's static pressure rise as it passes though a duct is commonly referred to
as pressure recovery.

11 DRAINAGE SYSTEM AND PAN

During the normal condensation process, an air conditioner
produces a significant amount of water as a by-product. In a
central A/C system, there is a primary system of pipes, often made
of PVC, that carry this condensate water to the outside of the
building.
