Future Implementation 3
In this dissertation work, following objectives will be achieved.
Objectives  Use of renewable energy source for power generation & also to
avoid pollution

Combining solar energy with induction heat generation

technique is the efficient solution for the heat generation
application.

 Simulation will present in proteus

 Design the Battery & Inverter system that can run AC load

Use of PWM Pulse width modulation technology is used for

charging the battery from photovoltaic array

Design low cost solar panel that is compatible for users

Introduction
One of the most serious that we are witness is the increasing cost and scarcity of cooking gas.
 Solar energy is the largely available source which we can use for cooking but for this energy is
not available at 24 hours so is not possible to use it in night time.
 So this energy has to be stored at battery. This stored can be use to produce the electricity and
further for induction heating.
 Induction cooking is the highly efficiency technique for the cooking purpose when it combines
with solar system it will provide the future solution for the cooking technology .
 Although Solar based cooking may have high initial cost, but over a long term it is the cost
effective solution.

Solar Panel
A solar panel is actually a collection of solar (or
photovoltaic) cells, which can be used to generate
electricity through photovoltaic effect. These cells are
arranged in a grid-like pattern on the surface of solar
panels
Most solar panels are made up using crystalline silicon
solar cells.
When it comes to wear-and-tear, these panels are very
hardy. Solar panels wear out extremely slow. In a year,
their effectiveness decreases only about one to two per cent
(at times, even lesser)

How works induction heating

induction heating, an inverter topology

supplies a high frequency current to an
induction coil, producing an alternating
magnetic field. If this field is applied to a
ferromagnetic pan, it produces eddy
currents, and magnetic hysteresis, which
heat up the pan

8
Benefits of Solar based induction cooking

Solar cooking is quick and easy.

 Solar cookers make no noise

Cooking with the sun empowers you to be more self-sufficient.

Deforestation will fall drastically as firewood will no longer be needed for

cooking.
Health problems such as, respiratory illness, caused by the smokes from fuel
burning will also be mitigated.
Environmental pollution will be reduced dramatically with reduction of fuel
burning

9
Solar Irradiation
Solar radiation varies from season to season in Somalia.

Somalia receives an average daily

The output characteristic of PV cell depends mainly on

the solar insolation 5-7 kWh/m2

The average sunshine duration is estimated between 2900 –

3100 hours/year (8-8.5 hours / day).

METHODOLOGY
The primary input to the solar energy coming from the sun, it is received by the array of
photovoltaic cell and further converted in to electricity energy. System block diagram is
shown.

The charging of battery must be monitor and control to avoid the overcharging and to
indicate the low voltage condition of the battery for that charge control unit is necessary .

Pulse width Modulation is used in solar charge control unit. The stored electric energy is in
the DC voltage form is further converted in to high frequency (kHz)

Ac voltage to generate the electromagnet field in the induction coil which generate the heat.

MOSFET is used as switching device for generating the AC voltage.

Future challenge’s
High-efficiency IH systems: the improvement of semiconductor technology and the
development of wide bandgap devices, together with advanced topologies, are
allowing the design of higher efficiency systems.

Multi-coil systems offer higher flexibility, performance, and heat distribution, and
are essential for some high precision/flexibility industrial and domestic applications

Advanced control systems: IH systems require robust control algorithms to adapt the
power converter operation to different IH loads and operating points

Using for another source like Grid
