³anagement is the process of designing & maintaining an


environment in which an individuals,working together in
groups,efficiently accomplish selected aims´.

anagement is an exercise in harmonising


men,money,machinery,materials towards fulfilling the set of
objectives leading to human development,excellent
performance,social benefit & global welfare.The management
work can be divided into a few basic functions of management i.e,
planning,organizing,leading,controlling etc.
 
Definition:-
³Organizing is the process of defining and grouping the activities of the
enterprise and establishing the authority relationships among them.´
eaning & Introduction:-
Organizing refers to the relationship between people, work and resources to
achieve the common objectives. When it comes to business leadership, after
planning one of the most important aspects is the organizing function of
management. It includes putting life into the plan by bringing together the
workers, capital, machinery, material & other things to execute the plans.
Organizing involves determining activities needed to fulfill the objectives,
grouping these activities into manageable units & assigning such group of
activities to managers.

In short, organizing is to achieve the plan by the tooling process or the


preparation of work to be done.

Authority: Focuses on one who grants it.
G Power: Ability of the person to influence another
person to perform an act
Authority: institutionalized right of the superiorto
command & compel his subordinates to
perform a certain act.
G Power: Relationship is formal.
Authority: Relationship is informal.
Delegation Of Authority
A concept related to authority is delegation.
Delegation is the downward transfer of authority from a
manager to a subordinate. ost organizations today
encourage managers to delegate authority in order to
provide maximum flexibility in meeting customer needs.
There are four steps for delegating the authority
successfully:
1.Assigning the task specifically
2.Giving correct amount of authority
3.Confirming the acceptance of responsibility by employees
4.Create Accountability
Centralization & Decentralization
Centralization:-
The process of transferring & assigning decision
making authority to higher levels of an organizational hierarchy is
called as centralization.

Decentralization:-
The process of transferring & assigning decision
making authority to lower levels of an organizational hierarchy is
called as decentralization.
There three types of decentralization:-
1.Deconcentration
2.Delegation
3.Devolution
Span Of anagement
It refers to the number of subordinates that can be
handled effectively by a superior in an organization. This
concept affects organization design in a variety of ways,
including speed of communication flow, employee
motivation, reporting relationships, and administrative
overhead.It is also known as span of control. It signifies
how the relations are planned between superior and
subordinates in an organization.
It is generally categorized under two heads i.e. narrow
span & wide span.

o Organizing is the process of defining &grouping the activities of enterprise.
o Organizing is important as it helps in the growth of the organization &
attainment of it¶s goals.
o Organizing helps people to understand their objectives,responsibility,goal
etc.
o It goes in a systematic process to achieve the target.
o There are various types of organization such as formal organizations,
informal organizations, matrix organization.
o In an organization power & authority plays crucial role where power is
based on informal relationship & authority on formal relationship.
o Centralization & decentralization are two opposite ways to transfer
decision making power of the organization.
o Span of management is a dimension of organizational design measured by
the number of subordinates that report directly to a given manager.
o Organizing helps to design the structure of people systematically &
delegate their authorities properly.
