Biblionasium

Introduction
for Teachers

How to Use Biblionasium

“We’re constantly reading for skill. We’re
constantly asking kids to do something with
their reading, and then we wonder why they
leave us and never pick up another book.”

—Pernille Ripp

What is Biblionasium?
Biblionasium is a reading community where:
● All patrons can share and recommend their favorite books
● All patrons can set up virtual bookshelves
● Students and teachers can track reading
● Teachers & media specialist can challenge students and
monitor reading lists
● Students earn badges by completing challenges
Biblionasium 101

Let’s learn how to:

● Look at our students or groups

● Put books on our bookshelf
● Present challenges to our student(s)
● Send messages to one or more students

And the most important thing:

Let’s learn how to ...encourage our students
to LOVE reading by picking up their choice of
books in the media center!
Let’s get
started...
Be sure you’re on the GCPS portal page and logged in.
Then click on Media Catalog.
Click “Log In.”

It is a one time login because you are logged

into the portal.
Use the Main Menu (hamburger) icon
and click on Biblionasium.
The first time you open Biblionasium, you will get this message.
Simply click on “Ok. I’m done.”
Since we have not used Biblionasium before, click on
“I don’t want to move another account.”
Your students (group) can be managed through Destiny or
Biblionasium. Biblionasium allows us to designate students to a
different classroom if another teacher (i.e., Resource) teaches them.
Because students are being moved around this year due to changes in
DL vs. IP teaching, all students will remain in their homeroom classes.

Click the
X.
Now, let’s learn about
some of the features of
Biblionasium, which
include these categories.
