WIRELESS ADVANCE TIRE

PRESSURE MONITORING
SYSTEM
Introduction
 According to Ministry of Road Transport and Highways India, 35-40% of
accident have been due to tire bursts in the past 5 Years.
 The main reason of Tire burst is Under-inflated tires. Under-inflated tires

also increases problems such as decreased tire life, blowouts and handling.
 Air pressure should always be at appropriate value which minimize wear

and tear of tires. Also at high or low pressure stopping distance will
increased drastically which may lead to an accident.
 High pressure may burst out the tire while driving at high speed which

may lead to an accident.

 Our project will display the current pressure data of tires with high/low

pressure warning. Also if the air pressure is constantly decreasing in tires it

gives an indication. Hence, it will provides safety to the driver & vehicles
and also increase the life of tires.
OBJECTIVE/AIM
 The aim of this project is to design and develop a tire pressure monitoring system
which monitors the vehicle tire pressure and thus provide air pressure and
temperature data to the driver through LCD display.

NEED FOR SUCH A SYSTEM

Naturally, tires loses air pressure because of change in seasonal temperature and
leakage. If such type of system is present in vehicles then driver is attentive about the
Under-inflated tires and the problems which increased by Under-inflated tires, such as
 Decreased tire life

 Blowout

 Increased Fuel Consumption

 Reduced Vehicle Safety

Required Components
 Node MCU-
NodeMCU is an open source IoT platform. It includes firmware which runs on
the ESP8266 Wi-Fi SoC from Espressif Systems, and hardware which is based on the
ESP-12 module. The term "NodeMCU" by default refers to the firmware rather than
the development kits. The firmware uses the Lua scripting language.
 Pressure Sensor-

The BMP180 is the next-generation of sensors from Bosch, and replaces the BMP085.
The good news is that it is completely identical to the BMP085 in terms of
firmware/software - you can use our BMP085 tutorial and any example code/libraries as a
drop-in replacement. The XCLR pin is not physically present on the BMP180 so if you
need to know that data is ready you will need to query the I2C bus.

This board is 5V compliant - a 3.3V regulator and a i2c level shifter circuit is included so
you can use this sensor safely with 5V logic and power.

working
 One is Wheel-Speed Based TPMS (abbreviation: WSB TPMS, or called indirect-type TPMS). This system
monitors wheel speed signals through the wheel speed sensor of (Antilock Braking System) ABS system.
tire diameter becomes large or small when certain tire pressure is too high or low, while wheel speed also
correspondingly changes., and then it will give an alarm if tire pressure is too high or insufficient. Such
system cannot judge the situation of more than two tires being lack of gas at the same time or speed
exceeding 100 km/h, with complex system calibration.
 Failure tire positioning is not precise enough, and pressure values cannot be reflected visually and

accurately. The other is Pressure-Sensor Based TPMS (abbreviation: PSB TPMS, or called direct-type
TPMS). This system uses pressure sensor and temperature sensor in the tire to directly measure tire
pressure to display and monitor it.
 System will automatically turn on alarm when tire pressure is too low or there is leakage. Driver can

intuitively understand every tire pressure condition through direct-type TPMS. In contrast, direct- type
TPMS is superior to indirect-type TPMS in function and performance, so this system used the direct-type
TPMS.
 It mainly consisted of wireless tire pressure monitoring modules attached in tire. wireless tire-pressure

monitoring modules real-timely measured tire pressure, temperature and the measured signals were
transmitted after modulated into high frequency signals. Central receiving module received the signals and
displayed the received tire pressure, temperature data on the screen for driver to refer to. If tire pressure and
temperature abnormalities occur, then central receiving module will give relevant alarm signal to remind
driver to take necessary measures. System block diagram is shown in Figure 1.
Advantages
 Designed for human welfare.
 Upgraded mileage.
 Reduction in green house gas emission.
 Reduction in rate of tire’s wear and tear.
 Improves vehicle safety.
Conclusion
 This project apply combination of techniques to
implement a solution to measures time-to-time tire
pressure and also provide air pressure data to the driver
through LCD display.
 This system should be required necessary in the vehicles.

The system ensures measured tire pressure which is

important for preventing the problems which was due to
Under-inflated tires, such as Decreased tire life, Blowout,
Increased Fuel Consumption, Reduced Vehicle Safety. If
we use Nitrogen gas, the durability of tires can also be
increased .
