IMPLEMENTATION OF
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
PLAN IN CANDELARIA
EAST DISTRICT
 
METHODOLOGY
 Method of Research
Since the objective of the research was to evaluate the implementation of School Improvement Plan, the researcher
made use of the descriptive assessment method of research. Such process was used because it is concerned with
description, recording, analysis, and elucidations of presented situations (Thyer, 2010).
The descriptive research designs enable researchers to label an understanding on a certain event or phenomena.
Johnson and Christensen (2012) discussed descriptive research as focused mainly on presenting an exact depiction or
illustration of class or individuality of a condition or phenomena considering a criteria towards analysis of its concepts
and systems.
 Population, Sample Size, and Sampling Technique

Specifically, the respondents of this study were the elementary teachers in Candelaria East District. The researcher
used fish bowl technique to select the teacher respondent in each schools and places where they come from. The
respondents belong to small, medium and large schools both rural and urban schools in Candelaria, Quezon.
 Population

The respondents comprised the elementary school teachers from Candelaria East District in Quezon Province both
rural and urban area, a total of 180 teacher respondents are chosen using Slovin’s Formula to compute the samples from
Candelaria East District.
Slovin's formula is employed to estimate the sample size (n) with the known population size (N) and a margin of
error (e). It's an arbitrary sampling method formula to calculate sampling size.
METHODOLOGY
 Description of the Respondents
To gather the necessary information about the school heads practices and its relationship on the implementation of
school improvement plan, a questionnaire or survey paper was prepared by the researcher. The survey paper was
adopted.
To ensure the reliability and consistency of the instrument, the researcher requested three experts to do the necessary
content validation. To test the validity of the survey instrument the statistician also used Pearson’s correlation coefficient
and test the reliability of the questionnaire using Cronbach’s Alpha.
 Data-Gathering Procedure
After the thesis committee’s authorization of the proposed study, the researcher conducted the content validation
and reliability testing of the questionnaires. She secured letters of endorsement from the Director of the Polytechnic
University of the Philippines - Open University and acquired another endorsement from District Office of Candelaria
East District. After getting the endorsement from the District Office, the researcher secured another letter for the School
Heads requesting that she was allowed to gather data from their teacher. The questionnaire is personally distributed by
the researcher.
RESULTS
 The respondents were composed mainly of female with the frequency of 149 (82.8%). The
remaining respondents were male with the frequency of 31 (17.2%). Most, of the respondents
belong to the bracket of age 41-50 with the frequency of 50 or equivalent to 27.8%. This was
followed by those aged 36-40 with the frequency of 42 (23.3%). Those who are aged 31-35 got
the frequency of 32 (17.8%). The age bracket of 26-30 got the frequency of 29 (16.1%). Lastly,
those who age are 20-25 had the frequency of 27 or equals to 15.0%. The respondents served
the school between 1 – 5 years with the frequency of 60 (33.3 %). Those who served the
school for 6 – 10 years got the frequency of 39 (21.7 %). Those who served the school for 20
years and above got the frequency of 32 (17.8 %). Those who served the school for 11-15
years got the frequency of 30 (16.7 %).Those who served the school for 16-20 got the
frequency of 19 (10.6 %). Then, majority of the respondents were BEEd graduates with the
frequency of 120 (66.7%). Next were those taking up units in education with the frequency of
36 (20.0 %). Those who had taken up their Master’s in Education got the frequency of 21
(11.7%). Those who graduated with their Ph. D. got the frequency of 3 (1.7 %). Lastly,
majority of the respondents belong to large school with the frequency of 77 or equivalent to
42.8%. Those who belong to medium school got the frequency of 66 (36.7%). Lastly, those

VMGO Implementation registered an overall weighted mean of 3.61. The highest weighted mean
under VMGO is on the statements “Promote continuous school and community improvements
that provide adequate and excellent conditions for learning aligned to VMGO (e.g. Brigada
Eswela, ECARP, DORP, Sports, etc)” and “Addresses identified problems that affect the learning
and development of learners through adherence to VMGO” with the same weighted mean of
4.03. The lowest weighted mean is on the statements “VMGO sets standards for educational
excellence.” And “Strengthens and sustains partnership among stakeholders” with a weighted
mean of 3.20. This indicates that it needs improvement on setting standards for educational
excellence and strengthens and sustains partnership among stakeholders.
The Student-Teacher Activities registered an overall weighted mean of 4.08. The highest
weighted mean under Student-Teacher Activities is on the statement “engaged students in a
stimulating teaching learning process.” with the same weighted mean of 4.14. The lowest
weighted mean is on the statement “convenes teachers and pupils regularly with implementation
team to discuss issues about the program.”” with a weighted mean of 4.03. This indicates that the
SIP team should convene the teacher and pupils and talk about the issues about the program.
RESULTS
Physical Facilities registered an overall weighted mean of 3.26. The highest weighted mean under
Physical Facilities is on the statements “identifies master plan on physical facilities in coordination
with the team on Curriculum and instruction Programs.” and coordinated procurement of materials
and equipment” with the same weighted mean of 3.30. The lowest weighted mean is on the statement
“identifies physical, materials and equipment needs are addressed.” with a weighted mean of 3.22.
Then administrations registered an overall weighted mean of 3.98. The highest weighted mean under
Physical Facilities is on the statement “considers staff opinion data on the school management
structures and processes” with the weighted mean of 4.02. The lowest weighted mean is on the
statement “conforms with Client Satisfaction Survey (CSS) forms as effective avenue to get the
opinion of pupils/students, teachers and parents.” with a weighted mean of 3.93.
 Lastly,Instructional Supervision registered an overall weighted mean of 3.99. The highest weighted mean
under Instructional Supervision is on the statement “updates and current trends in education are internalized
to keep up with the changing pace of classroom instruction.” with the weighted mean of 4.03. The lowest
weighted mean are on the statements “perpetually considers concrete but creative solutions as preventive
measures to loopholes that would arise in instructions.” and “periodically schedules teachers for
demonstration and subjected for classroom demonstration.” with a weighted mean of 3.94.
CONCLUSIONS
 The respondents consisted mainly of women aged 41-50, served the school from 1
to 5 years, graduated from BEED, and mostly belongs to large schools.
 The extent of implementation of School Improvement Plan has no significant
difference in terms of profile educational attainment.
 The scope of implementation of the school improvement plan in relation to the
implementation of VMGO, student-teacher activities, administration and
instructional supervision is sometimes enacted at Candelaria East District School in
Quezon province
 The Student-Teacher Activities are successfully implemented in the schools of
Candelaria East District
 The Physical Facilities in Candelaria East District are currently in need for some
improvements
 The respondents are satisfied with their schools’ administration
 The Instructional Supervision is successfully implemented in the schools of
Candelaria East District
