A press release is a written or recorded communication directed at members of the news media for the purpose of announcing something claimed as having news value.

y use of a press release is common in the field of public

relations y A press release provides reporters with the basics they need to develop a news story. y Press releases can announce a range of news items such as: scheduled events, personal promotions, awards, news products and services, sales and other financial data, accomplishments, etc.

y . Some of these common structural elements include:

y It is a written form of information in which all the

y It should contain the matter to be discussed in

the of meeting may be personally or by post at the address entered in the record of the company. y It is generally supposed to be pinned on a wall , notice board , are a popular & effective way of reaching out to the general staff for whom they r meant.

Press conference
y The purpose of a press conference is to convene the

media, release new information to them, to highlight an upcoming action. y Generally, there are two types of press conferences reactive and proactive. y Reactive press conferences respond to breaking news, and proactive ones are done at your initiative to create or announce a story.

y The best time to hold a press conference is between

10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. y The best days to hold a press conference are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (the earlier the better!). Fridays tend to be poor news days because the story will end up in Saturday's paper, which has the lowest circulation.

y The Event y On the day of the event: y You should arrive about one hour early to check the

room. y Have all your speakers arrive early so they can be briefed on the agenda, review their talking points and go over possible questions from reporters. y Start the press conference on time and keep the agenda portion short and to the point (30 to 45 minutes). Allow ample time for questions and answers.

MAILSHOTS
y These are those letter s /cards/pamphlets, which are

y A reply coupon is a coupon that may be redeemed for

airmail postage of a standard 20 gram letter anywhere in the country. y When one writes to a stranger and requests, it is considered polite to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope. This works well when both persons live in the same country; however, if they are from different countries, the enclosed postage stamp will not be valid.

y Telegram now no longer bears the badge

the message by the recipient could be confirmed with a high degree of certainty.

FAX
y Fax Messenger is a special transaction-oriented service

that bridges the communication gap. It is fully automated, and it uses a special file - to connect the two parties seamlessly.

1)INFORMATION SHARING It means both giving & receiving information in the form of files/pages. Internet is fast becoming a service where authentic information is available on any topic under the sun. 2)SENDING & RECEIVING MESSAGES(E-MAIL) The terminology used is E-mail or electronic-mail. This refers to the electronic transmission of messages, letters, documents and other materials. 3)Advertising Now a days various companies, professionals advertise through internet. Advertisements are put on different which allow advertising. The websites charge a fee for advertising on their sites.

E- Commerce
y Electronic commerce defined as the use of electric

transmission medium (telecommunication) to engage in the exchange ,including selling and buying, of the products and services requiring transportation, either physically or digitally, from location to location. y E-commerce includes retail shopping, banking, stocks and bonds trading, auctions, real estate transactions, airline booking, movie rentals nearly anything you can imagine in the real world
