Haiti and Chile need clean fresh water for drinking, baby formula and cooking.

Tank School raised $796.06 for clean water in Haiti and Chile.

Title 1 Goals:

When looking at our goals, we count only students who attended Tank School from September to June. This means we had a number of students who were not included in these percentages. We had a number of students at every grade level who met their goals.

Summary Page List the buildings Title I goals for 2008-2009. State each goal in measurable terms and list the evaluation that will be done to assess it. Reporting Out On Reading


100% of the 1st graders who discontinued from Reading Recovery reached grade level in reading

Reading Continued.
4th grade met their goal for reaching proficiency on their WKCE on the reading portion of the test 3rd and 5th grade came close to meeting the goal, but fell a bit short.

READING
All of the teaching staff at Tank Elementary will improve students use of strategic reading behaviors of K-5 students so that 90% are able to comprehend all genres of text at grade level benchmarks determined by Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System. Targeted special education students will improve a t a level congruent to grade level increments as indicated on their IEP by May 2009. Grade 1 students who are identified as needing Reading Recover will show progress toward grade-appropriate reading skills.

WRITING
All the teaching staff at Tank Elementary will improve and enhance all students writing skills on the CLM Writing Rubrics so that 90% of all students in grades 1-5 will perform at the proficient/advanced level. Kindergarten will show proficiency by reading level 5, Full Alphabetic on the Kindergarten writing rubric. Targeted special education students will improve at a level congruent to grade level increments as indicated on their IEP by May 2009.

All of the 1st graders reached their math facts goals 4th grade made proficiency on the math portion of the WKCE

All of the teaching staff at Tank Elementary will improve students knowledge of basic math facts of 1-5 students so that 90% are being able to complete or exceed the appropriate grade level benchmark determined by Mastering Math Facts Families Program. Targeted special education students will improve at a level congruent to grade level increments as indicated on their IEP by May 2009.

Reporting Out On Family Literacy


EVERY grade has a Title 1 requirement for reading at home. Reading materials were sent home at every grade level. Most of our students read at home with the support of their parents/guardians.

FAMILY LITERACY DEVELOPMENT


Students in Grade K-5 will participate in an at-home reading program using primarily self-selected materials. Parents/guardians of students in grades K-5 will participate in a minimum of two activities that enhance their childs literacy development. Parents will be informed of their childs learning experiences through classroom newsletters and parent teacher conferences. Grade

Ninety percent (90%) of students in grades K-5 will participate in an at-home reading program a minimum of once per week 100% of the students will receive a classroom/grade level newsletter to take home on a monthly basis. Staff will document that classroom newsletters were sent home. 90% of the parents will attend both the Fall and Winter parent-teacher conferences. Staff will document parent attendance at each conference. 65% of the parents will participate in a minimum of two family curriculum events. Staff will document parent attendance at each event. School to Home Home to School

Classroom teachers communicate with parents via different sources, calendars, newsletters, phone calls, behavior sheets, etc.

Our goal is to have 100% of parents attend both fall and spring conferences. This year only 83% of parents came to both conferences. (This is down from 96% last year.)

Parents are to attend at least two (2) literacy events each year. This includes Open House, Family Game Night, a classroom event, and tonight s event.

Read out loud to your student. Make trips to the library part of your weekly schedule. Have your student sign up for the Brown County Summer Reading Program. Have them check out books on tape along with the book and have them read along with the tape. Read comic books, newspapers, magazines. Read books/stories on the computer. Read billboards, street names, store fronts

What can I do to help my child with writing this summer?

Write, Write, Write


Student can start a journal and write about what they do during the summer months. Pretend theyre a reporter What do they see? What do they hear? Write up the shopping list. Write a story and illustrate it. Write on the driveway with sidewalk chalk. Write names of home items and place them around the house to teach younger siblings to read. Students can write letters to family and friends, teachers, the mayor, the president.

Measure
Use a ruler or tape measure have them measure anything and everything How big is the TV ~ the living room ~ the hallway ~ their big toe ~ your big toe. Have the older kids change inches to feet, feet to yards, feet to inches, yards to feet.
