Finale to Quarter 2
Thru’ an Outstanding September!
36
The Simple Maths of Q2

37
What will need to be driven
differently this year is….

QUESTIONS….
Which • Why BJS ’07?
• What is the IT

are
Wise!
• Why do you want to
pursue IT?
• Would you like to know
Worthy! about the program which
we believe is most
& suitable for you ?
Warranted!
• When is the RIGHT Time
for you to register?
48
Probe & Propose

Why BJS ’07? [Do not worry here about what the ‘E’ Response is!]
This Question is asked so that the counselor can establish BJS ’07 as NIIT’s
call for action to bridge the HUGE IT manpower - Demand Supply gap!

The 17th Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarships aims at

Rewarding the Meritorious and deserving
candidates with Scholarships on IT Courses.
To provide the Industry with Skilled Manpower
for IT roles and bridge the IT manpower
Demand and Supply Gap.

49
Probe & Propose

What is the IT Opportunity? [Again, Do not worry what the ‘E’

Response is!!! This question will help counselor to position IT Gallery & the HUGE IT
OPPORTUNITY!] The counselor uses this question as a place-holder for
discussing the IT Opportunity –piano folder / IT gallery

IT today Is one of the most coveted career choices

for reasons like
a) The average starting salary of an IT
professional is Rs. 27K per month.
b) Given the fact that IT is all pervasive, IT pros
are required in all sectors.
c) And the best part is that IT is not about Software
Development alone. There are roles and
opportunities in IT for all academic streams.

50
Probe & Propose

Why do you want to pursue IT? [Irrespective of Response- Move the

‘E’ towards needing IT for a career – Mainstream / Back-Up /
helps perform better in career of choice!]
The idea is to do a need fitment & come to an agreement with the E on the fact that ‘IT
enables careers’]
Counselor to tick the appropriate option in the BJS pre-app, on Why IT (Q 20).

This Question helps segregate profiles of the

BJS and non-BJS kinds. For Ex an
enquiry which is clear on CS product will
not get scholarships hence he need not
go through the complete BJS application
procedure.
Therefore Instead the counselor will attach the
regular Pre-App to the BJS Pre-App and
complete the counseling process and
then Register the candidate.

51
Probe & Propose

Would you like to know about the program which we

believe is most suitable for you ?
– This question is used by the COS to position the BJS Program Recommendation

– The COS will make a program Recommendation, support it with benefits & conclude
with Why program @NIIT.

When is the RIGHT Time for you to register?

NOW!!!!!!... Refer to the appropriate section in BJS Program Recommendation
Matrix
( >=60, <60)

Using the same Program Recommendation

Matrix the counselor can try and convert
the counselee to a Registration/Booking.
Let’s now quickly discuss the “Why Now”
pitch

55
Why Now
• Program Recommended for 12th Marks >=60%
– “You should register now to avail of the Celebration Benefit which
is based on XIIth performance . You may further earn Enhanced
Scholarships by appearing for the BJS Test - based on your
Aptitude. The Celebration Benefit assures you of a scholarship on
your Absolute Performance in Academics while the BJS provides
for Enhanced Scholarships on the basis of your Performance.

Also by doing so, you get your preferred BJS Scholar

Batch”
• Program Recommended for 12th Marks < 60%
– “If You register now and are not in the bottom 15% performers in
the BJS aptitude test, you would have the first right to quota or
in other words an assured scholarship either in the first or the
second list. Thereby you would ensure for yourself the first right
to the centre quota”

Approach to CS
Curriculum Support (An E walks in asking for CS programs)
– For A Curriculum Support ‘E’ who has walked into find about
a CS program our effort should be to highlight the benefits of
the other ‘MORE SUBSTANTIAL PROGRAMS’ and convert him
from a CS to a NTSE or to a Career Program depending upon
his profile etc. Therefore while the approach of the 5 Question
Framework would be the same it is only in Q3 that the
counselor would try and recommend a NTSE or a Career
program stating
• “I would recommend that you must avail of this IT opportunity
and do a program which would provide you with Substantial IT
skills and make you more placeable. Also since you have walked
into NIIT in a month when we are celebrating 15th September as
the Engineers Day, you would be provided with exclusive
celebration offers on choosing this course (NTSE or Career)”.
– However if the ‘E’ still wishes to go ahead and choose the CS
product, he would not go through the BJS application procedure and
the Counselor would try and book/register.
– A normal pre-application form will get attached to the BJS pre-app in
this case.
58
Approach to Swift
SWIFT
• For Swift ‘E’s who are looking for a basic IT literacy, it is important first to
check on the profile. If the ‘E’ is a housewife or a working pro who does not
fulfill the BJS elligibility criteria, it is advised to follow the usual counseling
approach. If not the 5 Question Framework is recommended. The effort here
would be to build the need to an “Infoedge” program.

– “While I understand that you are looking for basic IT literacy and will use
these IT skills in your chosen field. However I must tell you that even for
Non-IT roles like sales etc, the usage of IT has gone beyond MS Office.
Today technologies like Office Publisher, Web site publishing, Access are
used extensively by users. Given the fact that Office 2007 changes the way
a user works in the office, it has become a must do. Please allow me to
quickly give you a demonstration of the new Office 2007, which is
exclusively available at NIIT”.

– However if the ‘E’ still wishes to go ahead and choose SWIFT, he would not go through the BJS
application procedure and the Counselor would try and book/register.
– A normal pre-application form will get attached to the BJS pre-app in this case

59
Approach to AAE
AAE
• It is important for us to understand that an AAE profile
would go through the BJS aptitude test as the usual AAE
testing process (NSAT) & in the process – may also earn
himself a scholarship!
• Therefore we can state the following
– “AAE is one of the most coveted programs by Engineers which
provides you with the relevant skills and also a Placement
assurance. However since this is a fast track program it requires a
high level of IT aptitude. Therefore instead of conducting an NSAT
separately, we will have you appear for our National IT Aptitude
Assessment Test – Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarship Test ! If you figure
in the Top 85%, you will be eligible for enrolling yourself into AAE
and also for a scholarship upto Rs 10000/-”. The Scholarship is
being offered as part of the celebration scholarship for Engineers
since we are celebrating 15th September as Engineer Day”
60
Approach to NTSE
Year 1 or Year 2 Engineering (NTSE to IAE)
• Let’s come straight to the script
– “I appreciate the fact that you are keen to pick up a program on
<XWZ>. However I am sure that your needs will not be limited to
just <XYZ> and there would be in near future, requirement of a few
other technologies or certifications. Also I understand that you
have academic pressures on you whereby the months before your
Engineering exams are extremely stressful. What I would therefore
recommend is that you pursue a program that not only covers all
your technology needs but also gives you a specialization into Java
AND .net bouquet of technology. All of this designed in a way such
that your college education is not effected. (This is where the
design of the IAE deliver is explained). As you can see the effort is
only to make you placeable and give you an edge over your other
colleagues before the campus placement. But that’s not all. Since
we at NIIT are celebrating 15th September as the Engineer’s Day,
you would be eligible for scholarships up to Rs 16000 on
successful clearing of an Aptitude test.”
