What is SAP ?
The acronym SAP represents Systems, Applications, Products in Data Processing. SAP is both the name of the system and the name of the company that provides the system.
SAP R/3 is an integrated standard software package that manages all aspects of a company's operations, from financials and logistics through to human resources. SAP runs on a fourth generation programming language language called Advance Business Application Programming (ABAP). It have many of the features of other modern programming languages such as the familiar C, Visual Basic, and Power Builder. Replacing an out-dated and inefficient IT Architecture: In the beginning, computer systems were developed by individual departments to satisfy the requirements of that particular department. When someone finally realized that benefits could be had by linking these systems together, interface heaven was born.

SAP is an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software product capable of integrating multiple business applications, with each application representing a specific business area. These applications update and process transactions in real time mode. It has the ability to be configured to meets the needs of the business.

SAP the company was founded in Germany in 1972 by five ex-IBM engineers.

SAP R/2 was the first integrated, enterprise wide package and was an immediate success.

Disadvantage of S.A.P
The requirement of skilled personnel for the working and installation of S.A.P SAP cant be integrated with other business applications.
