Voodoo as fatalistic
Loa / Lwa--They act as intermediaries between human beings and the creator, (Bondye or Bon-Dieu - GoodGod), not unlike Saints and Angels do in Catholicism. Each has a very unique and developed personality. What they like and don't like is known and honored and each has distinct rhythms, songs, dances, symbols and rituals of service associated with it. Some Loa are easily recognized, some are more elusive. Phrases, actions and behavior indicate which Loa is present. When the Loa is identified, the symbols associated with them are offered. The Loa is fed, served and sometimes given or gives 4/18/12 help and/or advice. They do not have some need or

Two rites of Voodoo

Rada: Rada rites follow the more traditional African patterns emphasizing the gentler, more positive attributes of the loas. Devotees were all white clothing during these ceremonies. Animal sacrifices, which represents the "partaking of the blood, include chicken, goats, and bulls. Three oxhide-covered drums provide the rhythms for the chanting, representing three atmospheres of the sun, or Legba: the largest, called Manman, related to the chromosphere; the next, called simply Second, related to the photosphere; and the smallest one, 4/18/12 called Bou-Lah, which is the solar

Petro:

The Petro rites appear to have originated in Haiti during the slavery days. The name Petro allegedly comes from Don Juan Felipe Pedro, a Spanish Vodoun priest and former slave who contributed a rather violent style of dance to the ceremonies. Many of the Petro practices, including more violent worship services, and the use of red in the ceremonial clothing and on the face, which came from the Awak and Carib Indians who then lived on Saint Dominque. The Petro loas tend to be more menacing, deadly, and ill-tempered than other loas; many of their names simply have the appellation GeRouge (Red Eyes) after a Rada name to signify the Petro form. Pigs are sacrificed for 4/18/12 the benefit of

Voodoo belief states that there are two parts of the human soul. The two parts consists of ti-bonange (little good angel) and gros-bon-ange (great good angel). The gros-bon-ange is the bodys life force, and after death, the gros-bon-ange must return to the cosmos. To make sure that the tibon-ange is guaranteed a peaceful rest, the grosbon-ange must be recalled through an elaborate expensive ritual involving the sacrifice of a large animal, like an ox, to appease the ti-bon-ange. If the ti-bon-ange spirit is not satisfied and given a peaceful rest, the spirit remains earthbound forever and brings illness or disasters on others.
