INTERNATIONAL

COOPERATION

of the Republic of Uzbekistan

in the field of hydrometeorology
Uzhydromet takes an active part in the international
activities of the Republic. In 1993 Uzbekistan has
acceded to the convention of the World Meteorological
Organization and participates actively in realization of all
WMO Programs.
Every year Uzhydromet gets an expensive information
(aerological information, different weather maps, actual weather and
short-term weather forecasts for the foreign airports, synoptic and
satellite information) free of charge from the leading world meteorologica
centres and from the artificial Earth satellites, this information is of the
utmost importance for the hydrometeorological provision of the country

economy.
Besides, during 1996-1999 Uzhydromet
Uzbekistan was granted
with the up-to-date
meteorological equipment
and instruments. In its turn,
Uzbekistan provides the
information: daily data of
precipitation, maximum
and minimum
temperatures, information
for publication in collection
“Monthly climatic data of
the World” and other in
the framework of the
agreement with WMO.
By the initiative of Uzhydromet and
invitation of the government of the
Republic of Uzbekistan the XIVth
Session of the Regional Association II
Asia will take place in Tashkent this
December. Currently the preparation for
the organization of this Session is
underway.
By the invitation of Uzhydromet in December 2007 the technical fact-
finding WMO mission visited Uzhydromet. The members of this mission
were familiarized with the scientific-and-technical provision of the
hydrometeorological and ecological studies in the Republic and
accessed the capacities for the XIVth Session of the Regional

Association II Asia of WMO in Tashkent (5-11 December, 2008).

In the result of the mission activities in the framework of the Voluntary
Cooperation Program the Japanese company Koshin Electric Co. Ltd
has kindly and free of charge provided Uzhydromet with electrical

weathercock/anemometer?
With the financial support of WMO the experts of
Uzhydromet take an active part in the international
workshops, conferences and exhibitions organized both
in Uzbekistan and abroad.
Besides its main
activities WMO
initiates also
measures aimed at
the awareness of
children and young
people. A nice booklet
titled “We take care of
our climate” is
published for children.
In Uzbekistan this
brochure was
translated into the
Russian and state
languages.
Together with the International
Ocean Institute the
international competition of the
young artists was organized
which was devoted to the
subject of “Weather, climate
and ocean as the young
people see them” where the
children of Uzhydromet
personnel participated, too.
One of the prize bounties in
this competition was taken by
Sabina Khamidova (14 year
old) from Tashkent. Her work
was titled as “After the rain”
which was included to the
WMO book of pictures. This
book gives an idea of an
overview of future generation
on the world.
