Mumford and Sons

- Winter winds

Opening the video is members of Mumford and Sons are running out of a forest covered in balloons and straw. This produces elements of mystery to the audience, they can see where they have been has been fun because they are laughing but because they are running away could suggest theyve been up to mischief.

Parts of this video have shots of the lead singing walking through a field with his guitar and chair. He is on his own and the weather could represent his feelings, it looks dark and stormy suggesting he is angry and wild. The lyrics at this point are As the winter winds litter London with lonely hearts which pinpoints the impression of being lonely and the possibility of pathetic fallacy.

This worm shot sells the artist. It is a masculine movement which could be seen as attractive, also men could aspire to be like them

The shot itself brings up questions such as why is he digging providing elements of mystery.

Though the main focus on the video is of the band walking through streets and fields, the director has focused on them in live performances and on tour. I think Emma Bonhote & Fred & Nick did this to make the video more personal and gives the audience an idea of what would be expected from seeing them which personally shows me quite intimate venues but the performances are full of character and enjoyment from the crowd and the band.
