Tips for writing employee accomplishments

Examples of work tasks, that are part of the job, that do not highlight impact to the organization.

Developed org burden budget for FY04. Projected FY05 budget. Participated in RAPID focus group. Member in BLIS pilot training group. Successfully processed 42 reconciliations and prepared annual report for division. Provided timely information and prepared accurate reports. Approved time in LETS Produced weekly, monthly and quarterly reports. Researched and closed various liens. Tracked approximately 500 procurement orders.

Development and Improvement Accomplishments:

Participated as team member in review of divisional requirements for future costing exercises. Impact: Identified several time saving measures which saved time and report generation for future divisional exercises. Led the development and implementation of training to divisional staff with regard to development of handling resource adjustments. Impact: Reduced redundancy and time when developing future reports.

Teamwork, Communication and Leadership Accomplishments

Successfully hired, coached and mentored two RAs who have recently passed probation. Impact: RAs are fully integrated into the organization and making contributions to team and work processes. Initiated and led division LDRD and FWP submission for FY06 budget formulation. Impact: Built credibility by working closely with division management to understand proposals and was effective at submitting all proposals on or ahead of schedule.

Work Quality Accomplishments

Successfully led annual budget review for division management. Quality of presentation and material data was easily understood by dept. heads. Impact: Significant financial decisions were made based on recommendations and thorough analysis. Prepared effective presentations to PIs and assistants on grant and award mgmt. Impact: Improved relations with campus personnel and gave accurate procedural information to PIs thus reduced future duplicative requests and errors in submissions.

Customer Orientation Accomplishments

Worked closely with division management during funding crisis to identify additional funding opportunities. Impact: Prevented potential layoff of research staff. Helped to resolve long standing problem regarding by providing effective and convincing analysis of costs. Impact: Result was being sent back-payment which helped division. Provided important guidance by exhaustive research and analysis to senior division managers and outlined consequence of poor accounting practices if they continue to exercise poor accounting practices. Impact: Prevented division from continually drawing poor conclusions based on incorrect or missing data.
