Common Mistakes Speakers Make The Speech Sandwich Overcoming Nervousness A polished Presentation
A way of communicating ideas, information ,facts & figures about a company or a topic with people. It carries speakers personality and allows immediate interaction between all participants.
Content : information needed by people Structure :Logical beginning, middle & end Packaging: Must be well prepared Human Element: Good presenter.
Lack of preparation Reaching late Not knowing the audience Projecting the wrong image Using visual aids ineffectively Too much material

You loose your train of thought & freeze up. Forget to bring your material Tell a joke and nobody laughs Lack of response Trip over a wire Presentation is cut short Audience is bored & sleepy.

Nervousness is self centered. Embrace nervousness and accept it. Be comfortable with your surroundings and people. Manage your nervous energy by channelizing it into your performance.
K.I.S.S Keep it for short & simple. K.I.L.L Keep it large & legible. Avoid misspelled words or inaccurate information Use the right light while projecting your presentation. Use a plain wall or an LCD screen for clarity Visuals like cartoon, clipart, movies, pictures used should make sense.
No more than 4 colors/slide. Dark print on light background No red for text. Use earthy to sky for sequencing colors. Avoid using red/green contrast. Gray shows commitment, Red shows passion ,Blue is calm ,Black signifies sophistication.
Various visual aid like ; Flip charts, Overheads, Videos, handouts, whiteboards, props, computer & multimedia. Keep in mind the size of the room or audience. Budget and Space needs to be kept in mind as well. Your comfort level with the visual aid is also important.
Memorize concept not the script. Check your material the night before and once again before you leave. Give people time to laugh and make sure joke is relevant to the topic. Try a practiced interactive activity.
Change your thinking everyone trips once in a while. Always have a short version of your speech. Find out why people do not want to be there and sell the benefits of your presentation.
