Zones represent administrative boundaries for

managing servers within a farm
The Data Collector manage information that changes
frequently (current sessions, active licenses, load
vales)
One and only one Data Collector active per zone
Election process
Preferences can be set on each server

 Logon process

 User starts up his ICA Client

 User selects the farm he wants to connect to
 User enters his credentials
 The Zone Data Collector enumerates the applications available
for this user
 Application show up in the Application Set
 User clicks on the published application
 The ICA Client connects to the Zone Data Collector to determine
which server can handle the request (load balancing)
 The ZDC forwards the address of the server to the Client
 The chosen Citrix server downloads the user’s roaming profile
from the file server
 The Citrix server starts the application and sends only the
display information to the Client via the ICA protocol.
