MCNPS FUTURE REGISTERED MIDWIVES

Situation 1: Amaya, a 12-year-old girl was told by her mother to

clean their backyard & burn the leaves of the jackfruit tree. After 5 days, Amaya experienced fever, body malaise & occasional petechial hemorrhages. She was brought to the Rural health unit.

 Situation 2: Totoy, a car salesman

had been traveling a lot in the country. Three days ago, he developed high grade fever associated with chills and diaphoresis. This prompted him to seek consultation. Upon checkup, examination reveals presence of protozoal parasite on his blood.

 Situation 3: A midwife is performing

an assessment on a 3-year old child with newly erupted watery, shiny skin lesions-that started appearing on his abdomen. The childs mother tells the the midwife, that the child keeps scratching at night, and she teaches the mother about measures that will prevent an alteration in skin integrity.

SITUATION 4: A midwife is assessing a 12-month-old infant who recently had fever, runny nose, cough, and white spots in the mouth for 3 days. A rash

developed that started on the face and spread to the whole body. The midwife should suspect that the child has eruptive communicable disease.

 Situation 5:

James, a 4-year-old boy is brought to the Rural Health Unit for cough, fever and rashes. Rashes are warm to touch, slightly elevated and started to appear on the face, then on the trunk and extremities. The doctor examined him further and found a bluishwhite lesion on the inner cheek area.

Situation 6: Bugoy is a volunteer rescue aider. He served the flooded people from Bulacan during the surge of typhoon Pedring. After a week of submerging in the flooded areas of the province, he experienced fever, headache and myalgia but he never sought consultation. After a month, he further experienced jaundice and episodes of convulsion.

Situation 7: Mandy started to complain severe headache and high grade fever for almost two weeks. She remembered eating sapin sapin in a nearby store,

and after she developed rashes appearing on her chest, back and abdomen. What would be your initial impression of her illness?

Situation 8: Mang Romy is malnourished living in a squatters area. He came in the health center due to loss of weight easy, fatigability, chronic

cough and low grade fever. Upon arriving in the health center, he was positive for tuberculine testing and requires further examinations.

 Situation 9: May was rushed to the

emergency room suffering from delirium and convulsions. Her mother states that she was taking good care of her daughter all this time. Ana, on the other hand says she was bitten by a dog last two months, but kept it only to herself. She does not know who owns the dog and says she just accidentally step on it while playing. Her mother also observes that she does not drink nor take a bath.
