Hadid was born in 1950 in Baghdad, Iraq. She received a degree in mathematics from the American University of Beirut before moving to study at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. After graduating she worked with her former teachers, Rem Koolhaas and Elia Zenghelis at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, becoming a partner in 1977. In 1980 she established her own London-based practice.
In 2002 she won the international design competition to design Singapores one north master plan.
In 2003 Hadid had been awarded a CBE for services to architecture. In 2004 Hadid become the first female recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the biggest award in the architure industry, the equivalent of Nobel Prize. In 2005, one of her designs won the competition for the new city casino of Basel Switzerland.
In 2006, Hadid was honored by spanning her entire work at the Guggenheim museum in New York.
Also in 2006 she received an honorary degree from the American University of Beirut.
The whole building is movement, frozen. It expresses the tension of being on the alert; and the potential to explode into action at any moment.

Zaha Hadid was the first woman to win the Priztker Prize. She has influenced architecture by designing unbuilt projects such as the Cardiff Bay Opera House in 1994. She has always been recognized as a unique designer winning numerous competitions for designs.`
She is best known for her modern curving designs. She has a reputation of being a visionary designer. She has a unique imagination which is why shes so important to architecture. Zaha Hadid is acknowledged and respected by her peers such as architect Ram Koolhaas A planet in her own inimitable orbit.
She has designed new forms of extreme architecture such as her liquid spaces. Future projects include the very aesthetic looking Dancing Towers in Dubai. Also the Herault Culture Sports Montpellier, France.
