BUT THEY DO

-By definition child abuse is the bad treatment of a child under the age of 18. -The abuser could be a family friend ...a babysitter.a parent.

90% of the suffers know the abuser well

There are 4 different types of child abuse observed through years: I. Physical - hitting, shaking, burns, human bites, strangulation. II. Emotional - constant disapproval, belittling, constant teasing. III. Sexual - fondling, the showing of private parts by an adult, sexual intercourse. IV. Neglect - absence of adequate food, shelter, emotional and physical security, and medical care.

-Physical abuse tends to occur at moments of great stress. -Physical abuse of a child can lead to severe brain damage, disfigurement, blindness, crippling, and death.

Sticks and stones will hurt my bones .Wrong words can cause more damage.

-Is a form of abuse characterized by a person subjecting or exposing another to behavior that may result in psychological trauma, including anxiety, chronic depression , post traumatic or stress disorder. -Such abuse is often associated with situations of power imbalance, such as abusive relationships, bullying, child abuse and in the workplace.

One out of every three girls will be sexually assaulted by the age of 18.

-When

an adult or older adolescent uses a child for sexual stimulation. - Forms of child sexual abuse include asking or pressuring a child to engage in sexual activities, indecent exposure (of the genitals, female nipples, etc.) with intent to gratify their own sexual desires or to intimidate or groom the child, physical sexual contact with a child, or using a child to produce child pornography.

children -Clothes are ill-fitting, filthy, or inappropriate for the weather. -Hygiene is consistently bad (unbathed, matted and unwashed hair, noticeable body odor). -Untreated illnesses and physical injuries. -Is frequently unsupervised or left alone or allowed to play in unsafe situations and environments. -Is frequently late or missing from school.

Teach your children that there is a difference between "good" and "bad" touches. Explain what these are. Explain that no one has the right to hurt your child or touch him or her in private areas or touch in anyway that makes him or her feel uncomfortable. Tell your children that the words they need to remember are No, Go, Yell, Tell. If anyone touches them in a way they don't like or tries to get them to go with a stranger or person they don't feel comfortable with they should always say No.
