Lord make Calvary real to me

Prayer

WHEN I SURVEY the wondrous cross On which the Prince of Glory died, My richest gain I count but loss, And pour contempt on all my pride.

See from His head, His hands, His feet, Sorrow and love flow mingled down; Did eer such love and sorrow meet Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were an offering far too small. Love so amazing, so divine Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Jesus is condemned to death

Jesus accepts His Cross

United prayer
Father God, humanity is burdened with many crosses, hunger and poverty, loneliness and fear, sickness and addiction. Everywhere we look there are people who bear those crosses - people who are afflicted, people whom we look at but somehow do not see, people struggling alone. Help us to see them through your eyes of love, kindness and compassion. For the times when our hearts are hard and uncaring, when we presume to judge and condemn people that we meet, without stopping to think of the burdens they may be bearing, Lord, forgive us.

Surely He has borne our grief's and carried our sorrows, Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquity. Upon Him was the chastisement that made us whole And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray, We have turned everyone to his own way, And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity, the iniquity of us all.

Jesus falls for the first time

Jesus meets His Mother

United Prayer
O Jesus, may we never forget the enormity of your pain and suffering. There is so much hurt in our world today and yet it often seems that we have lost the ability To comprehend and feel compassion in the face of pain and loss - unless it is our own. Forgive us our indifference and selfishness, and help us to bring your comfort, hope and peace to those who suffer.

O how He loves you and me

A woman wipes the face of Jesus

United Prayer
Father God, we thank you for the courage of People who daily risk their own safety to bring love and comfort, in your name, to those who are Suffering in lands that are war-torn and oppressed. Continue to strengthen and protect them we pray. Lord, when our courage fails at the slightest opposition or difficulty and we do not stand up for you, challenge us to examine our hearts and the depth of our love for you.

Wonderful grace that gives what I dont deserve, Pays me what Christ has earned then lets me go free. Wonderful grace that gives me the time to change, Washing away the stains that once covered me.

And all that I have I lay at the feet Of the wonderful saviour who loves me

Wonderful grace that held in the face of death, Breathed in its latest breath forgiveness for me. Wonderful love whose power can break every chain, Giving us life again and setting us free.

And all that I have I lay at the feet Of the wonderful saviour who loves me

Jesus falls the second time

Jesus speaks to the weeping woman

Jesus falls the third time

United Prayer
Lord Jesus, your endurance amazes us. Your steadfast commitment to fulfil your Fathers will astounds us. The depth of your Love overwhelms us. When we are tempted to give up, place this scene before our eyes.

Jesus is stripped of His garments

Jesus is nailed to the Cross

United Prayer
Lord Jesus, we could never do anything that would deserve the love you poured out for us on Calvary, and the forgiveness that it made possible. We see our own sins cluttered around the foot of your cross in the people who betrayed and hurt you. In your loving mercy and by your grace, forgive us.

How deep the Fathers love for us, How vast beyond all measure, That he should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure. How great the pain of searing loss; The Father turns His face away As wounds which mar the Chosen One Bring many sons to glory.

Behold the man upon a cross, My sin upon His shoulders; Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers. It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished; His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything, No gifts, no powr, no wisdom; But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection. Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer. But this I know with all my heart, His wounds have paid my ransom.

Jesus dies on the Cross

Wonderful Love

Jesus came down my ransom to be. O it was wonderful love! For out of the fathers heart he came, To die for me on a cross of shame, And from sins bondage to reclaim; O it was wonderful love.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful love, Coming to me from Heaven above, Filling me, thrilling me through and through; O it was wonderful love.

His deaths a claim, his love has a plea;

O it is wonderful love!

Ungrateful was I to slight thy call,

But, Lord, now I come, before thee fall, I give myself, I give up all. All for thy wonderful love.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful love, Coming to me from Heaven above, Filling me, thrilling me through and through; O it was wonderful love.

Jesus is taken down from the Cross

The burial of Jesus

United Prayer
Lord, it is possible for us to know the story but not know you. Grant that we may each know the reality of your love and forgiveness, accepting you anew as our Saviour, and King.

Above all powers, above all kings Above all nature and all created things, Above all wisdom and all the ways of man, You were here before the world began.

Above all kingdoms, above all thrones,

Above all wonders the world has ever known, Above all wealth and treasures of the earth, Theres no way to measure what youre worth.

Crucified, laid behind the stone;

You lived to die, rejected and alone;

Like a rose trampled on the ground,

You took the fall and thought of me,

above all.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD,

You stepped down into darkness, Opened my eyes, let me see Beauty that made this heart adore You, Hope of a life spent with You.

So here I am to worship, Here I am to bow down, Here I am to say that Youre my God; And Youre altogether lovely, Altogether worthy, Altogether wonderful to me.

King of all days, Oh so highly exalted, Glorious in heaven above; Humbly You came To the earth You created, All for loves sake became poor.

And Ill never know how much it cost

To see my sin upon that cross

And Ill never know how much it cost To see my sin upon that cross

Thought
Dont weep for me, weep for your children

A light came out of darkness; No light, no hope had we, Till Jesus came from Heaven Our light and hope to be. Oh, as I read the story From birth to dying cry, A longing fills my bosom To meet Him by and by.

How tender His compassion How loving was His call, How earnest His entreaty To sinners, one and all. He wooed, and won them to Him By love, and that is why I long to be like Jesus, And meet Him by and by.

Yet deeper do I ponder, His cross and sorrow see, And ever gaze and wonder Why Jesus died for me. And shall I fear to own Him? Can I my Lord deny? No! let me love Him, serve Him, And meet Him by and by.
