Passage of five subjects for frequent recollections

1. We are continually driven to old age, There being no way to resist it.
2. We are continually driven to sickness, There being no way to resist it. 3. We are continually driven to death , There being no way to resist it.

4. Due to the law of karma , we are their maker, their heir, their attachment and their pathway. 5. We are destined to receive the results of what we have done, both good and evil. Thus , these such subjects are to be recollected everyday

Recollection at the moment of using (eating) food

Properly considering this food I use it, Not playfully, not intoxication nor for fattening, nor for beautification, Only for the continuation and nourishment for this body, for keeping it unharmed, for helping with the brahmacariya, Thinking I shall destroy old feelings of hunger and not produce new feeling of overeating. Thus there will be for me, freedom from bodily troubles and living at ease.

Verses on aspiration for transference of merits

By this meritorious deed, (may) my highly virtuous teachers, helpful guardians my dear mother and father. Suriyo and candima Kings (the Devas of Sun And Moon), all virtuous humans, Brahmas, Deva, Maras and Indras( Tavimsa Devas), the world protecting Devas. Yamas(devas of the underworld),humans ,friends ,indifferent ones, enemies too, may all beings be happy sharing my merits

May the triple happiness be attained (now, after death and nibbana) , Soon, may all gain release from evil By this meritorious deed and through this sharing.
Soon ,indeed may I attain the good and the cutting off of cravings, attachments, and all that is low in this flux of being, while striving for my deliverance.

May such evil everywhere is destroyed as one reappears ,existence after existence, May there be the upright mind , thoughtful wisdom and energy May evils (personified as Maras) never approach me, through the power of my action and energy, through such power is the lord buddha, the Law, lofty supreme and the best. The Lordly-lone Buddhas and my highest lords of the ariya sangha, even onto my final birth, may evils never approach me

The perfectly enlightened ones who are the refuge of beings who have already overcome the five Maras , Who have already expounded on the four noble truths which is the highest dhamma I wish to honour these every buddhas wh are the great warriors( full of courage) By these wrds of truth may all Maras disappear. May my departed relatives benefit from these merits and may they have peace and happiness.
