Given the two Regression Coefficients

Find the value of Correlation Coefficient.

r = √bxy x byx
bxy = 0.9, byx =0.4
= √0.9 x 0.4
= √0.36 = 0.6

Means of two variables X and Y are 68 and 150,

Respectively.
Their standard deviations 2.5 and 20
respectively and their coefficient of correlation is
+0.6, Find equation of X on Y.

X - X = r σx/ σy (Y - Y)
X = 68, Y = 150, σx = 2.5, σy = 20
r = 0.6
X – 68 = 0.6 (2.5/20) (Y - 150)
X - 68 = 0.075Y – 11.25
X= 0.075Y + 56.75.

Find most probable value of y when X = 60

Y – Y = r σy/σx (X - X)
X = 53.2, Y = 2 7.9 r σy/σx = -1.5
Substitute the values,
= Y – 27.9 = - 1.5 (X - 53.2)
= Y - 27.9 = -1.5X + 79.8

Y = 107.7 – 1.5X
When X = 60, Y will be
Y = 107.7 – 1.5(60)
