Commissioning BAMs
Obtain the Installation Information of the BAM Software

Administrator password of Windows Server 2003 . Password for the user sa to log in to SQL Server 2000 . Fixed IP addresses of the internal and external networks .
Remotely Logging In to the BAM

Choose Start > Run . The Run dialog box is displayed.


Enter mstsc /console and click OK. The Remote Desktop Connection dialog box is displayed. When entering the mstsc /console, leave a space between mstsc and /console! Enter the external virtual IP address of the BAM for remote login, and then click Connect. Enter the name and password of an administrator-level user of the BAM, and then click OK. You are remotely logged in to the BAM.

Checklist for BAM Software Settings Performed Before Delivery
Installing Windows Server 2003
Starting the Routing and Remote Access service Starting the Terminal Services service The default password of the administrator of the active and standby BAMs is 11111111. The Routing and Remote Access service is started and Startup Type is set to Automatic. The Terminal Services service is started and Startup Type is set to Automatic. The preset IP addresses of the internal Ethernet adapters are: Creating the internal network team Active BAM: 80.168.3.50 (255.0.0.0) Standby BAM: 80.168.3.60 (255.0.0.0) The preset IP addresses of the external Ethernet adapters are: Creating the external network team Active BAM: 172.121.139.201 (255.255.255.0) Standby BAM: 172.121.139.202 (255.255.255.0) The preset backup channel IP addresses are: Configuring backup channel IP addresses of the active and standby BAMs Active BAM: 192.168.3.50 (255.255.255.0) Standby BAM: 192.168.3.60 (255.255.255.0) The preset commissioning IP addresses are: Configuring commissioning IP addresses of the active and standby BAMs Active BAM: 192.168.6.50 (255.255.255.0) Standby BAM: 192.168.6.60 (255.255.255.0) Installing SQL Server 2000 Installing SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 The default password of the sa account is 11111111. Commissioning BAMs
Checking BAM Software
Check the version of Windows Server 2003 on the BAM. Check active services on the BAM. Check the version of SQL Server on the BAM. Check the operation of the SQL Server database. Check the login mode of the SQL Server database on the BAM. Check the data sequence of the SQL Server database on the BAM. Check the name consistency between the BAM and SQL Server.

Check and ensure that no BAM has the same name as that of the current BAM in the same subnet.
Check the teaming of the Ethernet adapters on the BAM. Check the teaming modes of the Ethernet adapters on the BAM. Check the system time and time zone of the BAM and ensure that it is consistent with the local time. Check and ensure that the system patron is not installed on BAMs.

Installing the BAM Application in the Active Workspace

For details, refer to Software Installation Slide.


Checking the Operation of the BAM Application
Working Modes of BAM Single-BAM mode Description When the BAM application is installed, State of each service is Started, and Startup Type of each service is Automatic. When the BAM application is installed successfully, For the active BAM, State of each service is Started, and Startup Type of each service is Automatic. Dual-BAM mode For the standby BAM, the State parameter values of SNTP Client, FTP Server, DynMonitor, and FTP Client are Started and the Startup Type parameter values of these services are Automatic. The State parameter values of other services are Stopped and the Startup Type of them are Disabled. If the heartbeat test between the active and standby BAMs succeeds, the status bar displays DSS OK.

Loading RNC Software and Data Files


Generating RNC Data Files

The generated subrack loading file is saved in BAM Active Workspace Installation Directory\LoadData. On the MML client, run the SET OFFLINE command , Run the RST DATA command. Running commands in batches. Run the FMT DATA command to set Format type to ALL_SUBRACK(Format all subracks) for formatting all subracks. Run the SET ONLINE.
Setting RNC Loading Modes (Commissioning)

On the MML client, run the SET LODCTRL command to set Board start load control. to LFB (Load from BAM and write flash) .
Starting the RNC Message Tracing (Commissioning). Starting the Loading Progress Window.

Loading the RSS Subrack

Switch on the power distribution boxes SW3 and SW6 to power on the RSS subrack. The boards in the RSS subrack automatically load the host software and data file from the BAM. On the MML client, run the RST SUBRACK command to set Subrack No. to 0. A dialog is displayed, asking you whether to proceed. Click Yes. The boards in the RSS subrack automatically load the host software and data file from the BAM. Observe the loading progress of the associated RSS subrack in Progress Management. After the loading of the RSS subrack, click the Device Panel tab in the navigation tree and then double-click the shelf node to be queried. The RSS subrack loading lasts 3 to 5 minutes.

Loading the RBS Subrack

Switch on the power distribution box to power on the RBS subrack. On the MML client, run the RST SUBRACK command to set Subrack No. to Number of the RBS to be loaded. Observe the loading progress of the associated RBS subrack in the Progress Management window. After the current RBS subrack is loaded, go to Step 2 to load other RBS subracks until all the RBS subracks of the RNC are loaded. After all the RBS subracks are loaded, click the Device Panel tab in the navigation tree and then double-click the shelf node to be queried. Observe the signaling connection setup on the Iub interface and cell setup in the message tracing window.

Verifying the License


Verifying the License

The license of the local office is in BAM Active Workspace Installation Directory\FTP\License and the file name is license.lic.
Run the LST CFGMODE to query the data configuration of all the subracks. If the subrack is in offline mode, run the SET ONLINE command to set the subrack to the online mode. Run the ACT LICENSE command and set File Name to the name of the specified license to activate the license. Run the DSP LICENSE command and set Query type to SCU (SPU, BAM). The system displays the current configuration of each licensed service.

Verifying Switchover Between Active and Standby Boards

The RNC supports switchover of boards such as the OMUaSCUa SPUaGCUaAOUaUOIaFG2aGOUaPEUaAEUa POUa After the switchover of boards, the existing standby board becomes the active one. The process lasts 2 to 5 seconds. The existing active board becomes the standby one and is reset. The process lasts 2 to 5 minutes

Fault Management > Browse Alarm
