Why Read?
Although this book deals with fantasy material (magic, mythical creatures, etc.) it also embodies a great number of relatable themes. It is a coming of age novel that deals with discovering ones identity, notions of right and wrong, good and evil, as well as friendship, prejudice, death, love and more. Although generally it is a fantasy novel, it has elements of adventure and mystery. And while it was originally aimed at children and young adults when written, this book is adored by people of all ages. And, if you like it, this book is just the first in its series. There are six more that follow.

"That's not all. They're saying he tried to kill the Potter's son, Harry. But he couldn't. He couldn't kill that little boy. No one knows why, or how, but they're saying that when he couldn't kill Harry Potter, Voldemort's power somehow broke and that's why he's gone." (Rowling 10).
"Your mother died to save you. If there is one thing Voldemort cannot understand, it is love. He didn't realize that love as powerful as your mother's for you leaves its own mark. Not a scar, no visible sign... to have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever It was agony to touch a person marked by something so good." (Rowling 242).
