S-BELT The Rationale


English Language is a critical subject taught in schools and great emphasis is given by MOE, State and District will achieve a mastery of the subject at all levels.

This programme aims at providing a complement and supplement form of ELT training to exisiting forms of courses, training and support.

S-BELT
The Objectives
is a package that aims at providing an on-going and continuous school-based training support for temporary and untrained teachers of English Will cover all aspects of curriculum specifications focusing on providing some fundamental knowledge an skills needed to teach the language skills effectively and systematically. The teacher will be exposed to some fundamental principles or methodology in teaching a language skill Will provide the teacher with an insight of how to synthesise pedagogical principles and actual classroom practice.

The Strategy
IMMEDIATE: training and support can be given without having to wait for
courses organised by

PPD/JPNJ/PPK

CONVENIENT: a trained BI optionist/experienced BI teacher can be the


mentor or trainer to guide his colleague using one of the modules. The mentor can select the appropriate support module to address the immediate needs of the mentee.

ON-GOING:support can be given to any number of untrained teachers,


any time and cost is minimal if any. Lessons need not be disrupted or replaced and the mentee gets on-site guidance from his peer.

Project Schedule 18 Dec 2007 ( SK Bandar Putra, Kulai) : Phase 2 Project Team Members are briefed on SBELT and team members discussed the addition of the Literature Component module ( 8 Jan 2008 ( PPD Muar): Phase 1 Project Team Members are rebriefed on SBELT and team members discussed on the addition of materials to the existing SBELT modules 30 &31 Jan 2008 ( PPD Pontian): Phase 1 and 2 Project Team Members gather and edit on SBELT materials 2 week Feb : Final Editing of SBELT Materials and sending of materials for printing 2 week Mac: Training of all primary Head of EL Panels on the implementation of SBELT 3 week Mac : :Launching of SBELT
